Obesity is a chronic disease associated with lethal health conditions. Moxibustion, a frequently used treatment in traditional Chinese medicine, is effective and safe for the treatment of obesity. However, the evidence has not been systematically collected and combined to date. This systematic review and meta-analysis will analyze the effects of moxibustion on obesity. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/NTKDF (https://osf.io/ntkdf).

Association between vitamin D deficiency at one month of age and bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
Vitamin D deficiency is common and increases the likelihood of neonatal morbidities in preterm infants. This study assessed vitamin D levels at 1 month of age after 4 weeks of vitamin D supplementation and determined the association between vitamin D levels and neonatal morbidities. This retrospective study included preterm infants with birth weight <1500 g or gestational age <32 weeks born in our hospital between January 2018 and December 2019. ⋯ GHT in the vitamin D deficient group were 29.1 ± 2.1 weeks and 1216.1 ± 308.1 g, respectively, and 30.0 ± 1.7 weeks and 1387.6 ± 350.8 g, respectively, in the sufficient group. No significant differences were observed between the 2 groups in demographic and clinical outcomes except for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), which occurred significantly more often in the vitamin D-deficient group (odds ratio 2.21; 95% confidence interval, 1.85-2.78; P = .02). The results of our study suggest that vitamin D deficiency at 1 month of age is associated with BPD in preterm infants.

Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) means that the primary focus cannot be found after preliminary clinical evaluation. It accounts for 2.3% to 5% of newly diagnosed cancer cases. Due to the lack of standard treatment, CUP is usually associated with poor prognosis and is the third to fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths. ⋯ There is no recommended standard treatment for most CUPs, which leads to their poor prognoses. By performing NGS for patients and targeting immune-related positive predictors, immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy may prolong the overall survival of patients. This case report suggests that immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy is feasible and effective in patients with CUP.

Monitoring the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score in nonocclusive mesenteric ischemia increases the survival rate: A single-center observational study.
Several large-scale studies have assessed the endovascular and surgical treatments for nonocclusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI); nonetheless, the prognostic factors for NOMI remain unclear. In this single-center study, we retrospectively reviewed the electronic medical records of 197, 149 patients were retrieved from the inpatient database of our hospital from January 2011 to January 2020; 79 patients with NOMI were observed. A total of 44 patients who underwent laparotomy were statistically analyzed and divided into the survivor and non-survivor groups. ⋯ Multivariate analysis using the factors with significant differences revealed that SOFA score ≥10 (hazard ratio for death, 1.199; 95% confidence interval, 1.101-1.305; P < .001) was an independent prognostic factor. The SOFA score can be used to assess disease severity. A SOFA score of ≥10 may be associated with increased mortality.

Intussusception is common among children at the pediatric emergency department (ED) with acute abdomen. Diagnosis and treatment delay remain a challenge. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of intussusception clinical pathways (CPs) implementation, including bedside point-of-care ultrasonography, on patient management in a pediatric ED. ⋯ There was no between-group difference in the rates of complications, readmission, emergency surgery, or reduction failure. The implementation of an intussusception CP decreased time-to-diagnosis, time-to-treatment, and ED length of stay estimates among children screened using point-of-care ultrasonography. The present findings suggest that the implementation of an intussusception CP may improve the efficiency of time and resource use.
