Randomized Controlled Trial
Efficacy evaluation of acupuncture combined with Liujunzi Decoction in the treatment of functional dyspepsia: A protocol of randomized controlled trial.
Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a common and frequently-occurring disease in internal medicine. It is known that Liujunzi decoction and acupuncture are widely used in the treatment of FD, but there are few studies on the combination of Liujunzi decoction and acupuncture in the treatment of FD, and its safety and efficacy are still controversial. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with Liujunzi decoction in the treatment of FD. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/67GKN.

Meropenem monotherapy vs ceftazidime plus amikacin have been approved for use against febrile neutropenia. To assess the effectiveness and safety of them for empirical treatment of cancer patients with febrile neutropenia, we conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trial. ⋯ Ceftazidime plus amikacin should be the first choice for empirical treatment of cancer patients with febrile neutropenia, and meropenem may be chosen as a last defense against pathogenic bacteria.

Fat embolism syndrome (FES) is a known complication of long bone fracture and can affect multiple organs. The organ most commonly affected with FES is the lung. Severe cases of FES from long bone fracture can cause acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Although the treatment of ARDS remains challenging, it is reported that a lung protection strategy and prone positioning are effective. In addition, early fixation is reported to be beneficial in respiratory failure due to FES, though it may exacerbate respiratory failure during the perioperative period. We report the use of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) for the successful perioperative management of a patient diagnosed with ARDS due to FES. ⋯ Our study reveals the successful improvement of FES-induced ARDS by osteosynthesis and prone positioning under VV-ECMO. This strategy prioritizes supportive treatment over pharmacologic interventions.

Localized chondrosarcoma of the scapula has a favorable long-term survival outcome. Therefore, recovery of shoulder function after surgery is important in middle-aged patients. Currently, three-dimensional (3-D) printing implants can be applied for personalized limb salvage surgery. ⋯ The 3-D printed segmental scapula prosthesis is a useful method for shoulder functional recovery in patients with scapula chondrosarcoma.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
Predictors of severe sepsis-related in-hospital mortality based on a multicenter cohort study: The Focused Outcomes Research in Emergency Care in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Sepsis, and Trauma study.
This study aimed to identify prognostic factors for severe sepsis-related in-hospital mortality using the structural equation model (SEM) analysis with statistical causality. Sepsis data from the Focused Outcomes Research in Emergency Care in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Sepsis, and Trauma study (FORECAST), a multicenter cohort study, was used. Forty seven observed variables from the database were used to construct 4 latent variables. ⋯ Furthermore, the 72-hour physical condition and the physical condition before treatment strongly influenced the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score with path coefficients of 0.954 and 0.845, respectively. The SOFA score was the strongest variable that affected mortality after the onset of severe sepsis. The score remains the most robust prognostic factor and can facilitate appropriate policy development on care.
