The correlation between intimate relationship, self-disclosure, and adaptability among colorectal cancer enterostomy patients.
The postoperative physiological changes and psychological pressure of cancer patients affect the patient's adaptability to the disease, and thus affect the spousal intimate relationship. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between spousal intimate relationship, self-disclosure, and adaptability among colorectal cancer (CCI) patients with enteric stoma. This cross-sectional study selected patients with CCI in Henan Province from February 2018 to October 2020. ⋯ Average monthly household income, gender, and place of residence were associated with self-disclosure. Self-care ability, average monthly household income, postoperative time, and educational background were associated with adaptation. Healthcare workers should provide more health education training to guide CCI enterostomy patients to express their thoughts and feelings with each other increase self-disclosure, so as to enhance their intimate relationship then improve their adoption to ostomy, finally elevate their quality of life.

National early warning score on admission as risk factor for invasive mechanical ventilation in COVID-19 patients: A STROBE-compliant study.
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has become a global pandemic. Invasive mechanical ventilation is recommended for the management of patients with COVID-19 who have severe respiratory symptoms. However, various complications can develop after its use. ⋯ The optimal cut-off values were: fever duration ≥1 day (sensitivity 100.0%, specificity 54.95%), NEWS ≥7 (sensitivity 72.73%, specificity 92.52%), and LDH >810 mg/dL (sensitivity 56.0%, specificity 90.29%). These findings can assist in the early identification of patients who will require invasive mechanical ventilation. Further studies in larger patient populations are recommended to validate our findings.

Differences in clinical characteristics and liver injury between suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients in Jingzhou, Hubei Province of China.
To evaluate the clinical characteristics and liver injury in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, and analyze the differences between suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients, this retrospective study was performed on 157 COVID-19 patients and 93 suspected patients who were ultimately excluded from COVID-19 (control patients). Differences in clinical characteristics and liver injury between suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients were analyzed. Age, male sex, fever, chest tightness and dyspnea were related to the severity of COVID-19. ⋯ Some therapeutic drugs (like glucocorticoid) may be involved in the liver function impairment of COVID-19 patients. Most liver function indices improved significantly after active treatment. Although COVID-19 and other common respiratory infectious diseases share some clinical characteristics, COVID-19 has its own characteristics.

The purpose of this research is to determine and develop a valid analytical method that can be easily implemented by providers to evaluate whether they should join the bundled payments for care improvement (BPCI) advanced bundled payment program, and analyze the projected impacts of BPCI advanced payment on their margins. ⋯ This is the precise environment where decision tree analysis modeling is essential. This analysis can guide the hospital in just how to allocate resources in light of the new BPCI advanced payment model.

Endoscopic coblation treatment for congenital pyriform sinus fistula in children.
Congenital pyriform sinus fistula (CPSF) is a very rare branchial apparatus malformation. Traditional open surgery for fistulectomy might fail to excise the lesion completely, leading to continual recurrence. Herein, we report our experience of endoscopic coblation technique for treatment of CPSF in children. ⋯ All cases experienced no recurrence, vocal cord paralysis, pharyngeal fistula and massive hemorrhage after their first endoscopic coblation of the sinus tract in the follow up of 3 to 28 months. Endoscopic coblation is an effective and safe approach for children with CPSF, neck abscess incision and drainage could be performed simultaneously in acute infection stage. We advocate using this minimally invasive technique as first line of treatment for CPSF.
