Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Effects of patient characteristics on the efficacy of complete revascularization for treatment of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction with multivessel disease: A meta-analysis.
Several randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have evaluated the efficacy of complete vs culprit-only revascularization for treatment of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with multivessel disease. However, the efficacy of complete revascularization vs culprit-only revascularization in some STEMI patient subgroups remains unclear. ⋯ Compared with culprit-only revascularization, complete revascularization significantly reduces the MACE risk in patients with STEMI and multivessel disease, which is independent of sex, age, history of diabetes, ECG infarct location, and the number of arteries with stenosis.

High-dose statin pretreatment decreases periprocedural myocardial infarction and cardiovascular events in East Asian patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: A meta-analysis of fifteen randomized controlled trials.
Numerous studies have shown that high-dose statin pretreatment may reduce the risk of periprocedural myocardial infarction (PMI) and short-term major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in western people undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, the effects in East Asian patients are still controversial. The objective was to evaluate the effects of short-term high-dose statin (all types) pretreatment compared with the control (low-dose or no statin) on the reduction of the rate of MACE and PMI in East Asian patients. ⋯ High-dose statin pretreatment can significantly reduce 30-day MACE and PMI for East Asian patients undergoing PCI.

Meta-analysis of patent foramen ovale closure versus medical therapy for prevention of recurrent ischemic neurological events: Impact of medication type.
The optimal treatment strategy for patent foramen ovale (PFO) patients with cryptic stroke remains controversial. We performed this meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of PFO closure versus different types of medical therapy. ⋯ With the addition of anticoagulants, the benefit of PFO closure decreased gradually. Patient groups that adopt individualized medical therapy strategies may benefit more.

Operative treatments for osteochondral lesions of the talus in adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This systematic review aimed to identify the available evidence regarding the comparative effectiveness and safety of various operative treatments in adult patients with osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT). ⋯ Cartilage regeneration and cartilage repair plus regeneration had significant superiority in improving the ankle function and radiological evaluation of OLT, although the trials included did not have high-level evidence. Moreover, which treatment between the 2 was safer could not be addressed in this review as most of the trials did not report the safety outcome. Further studies are needed to define the best surgical option for treating OLT.
