Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common chronic joint disease with serious health economic burden. More and more randomized controlled trials have indicated that traditional Chinese non-pharmacological therapy, including acupuncture, Tai Chi, Tuina, etc can significantly improve pain and physical function of patients with KOA. However, the effects of traditional Chinese non-pharmacological therapy for KOA remain controversial. Most previous systematic reviews did not focus on the effects of traditional Chinese non-pharmacological therapy for KOA as a whole. In Chinese community hospital, however, acupuncture, Tuina, and Tai Chi are usually in the management of KOA as whole-body treatment. ⋯ INPLASY202170098.

Acupuncture treatment on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most common behavioral disorder in childhood. Acupuncture treatment of ADHD has formed a relatively systematic theoretical and clinical treatment system which achieved satisfactory results. However, there has been no systematic evaluation of its effectiveness and safety. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of ADHD. ⋯ INPLASY202140022.

Dexmedetomidine (Dexm), a selective alpha-2 adrenoceptor agonist, and dexamethasone (Dexa), a very potent and highly selective glucocorticoid, have both been proven effectively to prolong the duration of local anesthetics (LA) in regional anesthesia. However, data comparing the efficacy of Dexm and Dexa as perineural adjuvants are inconsistent. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized and quasi-randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to compare the effects of Dexm and Dexa when used as LA adjuvants on peripheral nerve block (PNB). ⋯ This meta-analysis indicated that the analgesic duration of Dexm and Dexa as LA adjuvants in PNB is the same. Meanwhile, the effects of perineural Dexm and Dexa on some secondary outcomes, including the incidence of rescue analgesia, cumulative opioid consumption, and time required for onset of sensory and motor blockades, are associated with the surgical site and type of LA.

Maternal tobacco exposure during pregnancy and allergic rhinitis in offspring: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Maternal tobacco exposure during pregnancy is known to cause a potential hazard to the offspring's health. So far, published studies have shown no consistent results with whether tobacco exposure in utero is causally linked to the development of allergic rhinitis in offspring. The aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the association between maternal tobacco exposure during pregnancy and allergic rhinitis in offspring by meta-analysis and to provide reference for clinical work. ⋯ Tobacco exposure during pregnancy could increase the risk of allergic rhinitis in offspring. The importance of avoiding prenatal tobacco exposure should be emphasized more for the health of next generation in the public.

The usefulness of histopathology examples in teaching practical histology for medical students: A CONSORT-compliant randomized crossover trial.
Teaching histology as an image-intensive discipline is a major challenge to medical teachers. We compared knowledge retention and student preference after performing comparison-based and traditional methods of teaching practical histology. ⋯ Our findings indicate that the simple implementation of a few histopathology examples can yield a tremendous improvement in first-year medical students' understanding, enjoyment, and engagement in practical histology classes.
