Heart failure is a global health problem and the number of sufferers is increasing as the population grows and ages. Existing diagnostic techniques for heart failure have various limitations in the clinical setting and there is a need to develop a new diagnostic model to complement the existing diagnostic methods. In recent years, with the development and improvement of gene sequencing technology, more genes associated with heart failure have been identified. ⋯ Since the weights of RNA-seq predictions for constructing neural network models were theoretically more suitable for disease classification of RNA-seq data, the GSE57338 dataset had the best performance in the validation results. The diagnostic model derived from our study can be of clinical value in determining the likelihood of HF occurring through cardiac biopsy. In the meantime, we need to further investigate the accuracy of the diagnostic model based on the results of our study.

Small nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors ≤2 cm have different biological features, and there is no gold standard treatment for them. This study aimed to assess the risk of malignancy of small non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and their outcomes after radical resection. The optimal management of small, incidentally detected pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors is controversial, with the aim of identifying factors predicting survival in patients with clinical stage T1N0M0 (cT1N0M0) pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and whether surgical treatment improves survival. ⋯ Patients who have undergone surgery, women and young adults have a higher overall survival rate. The following independent prognostic predictors for cT1N0M0 pNENs were identified: age, sex, and surgery. At last, we concluded that Surgery can increase the overall survival of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors in T1N0M0.

This study investigated the different complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) adopted by people in Japan, as well as the health problems treated with CAMs. Understanding more about this topic will facilitate the appropriate incorporation of CAMs into conventional medicine when treating health problems. Data were collected through an online survey based on the International Questionnaire to Measure Use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (I-CAM-Q). ⋯ The study showed that participants find physicians less helpful than other options for treating their health problems. Additionally, when asked whether it was helpful to consult with a specific professional for health problems, there was a higher percentage of participants who answered "Very helpful" for professionals, like massage, judo, acupuncture, and moxibustion therapists, than for physicians. The results of this study will help to inform medical providers of the most appropriate types of CAMs for dealing with various health problems.

Osteosarcoma is characterized by features of rapid growth and early metastasis with a poor prognosis. The aim of our research is to investigate the potential transcription factor (TF)-miRNA-mRNA regulatory mechanism in osteosarcoma utilizing bioinformatics methods and validate by qRT-PCR. ⋯ Based on the survival analysis, a TF-miRNA-mRNA sub-network, that is TFs (SPI1, HEY1, and CEBPB)-hsa-miR-338-3p-target genes (LAMC1 and THBS1) was established. In conclusion, the construction of a potential TF-related regulatory network will help elucidate the underlying pathological mechanisms of osteosarcoma, and may provide novel insights for the diagnosis and treatment of osteosarcoma.

In South Korea, there are few studies to understand the current status of pulmonary rehabilitation in clinical practice and develop it. This study aimed to assess the current status and annual changes in the number and pattern of prescriptions for pulmonary rehabilitation before and after its insurance coverage. The trends of pulmonary rehabilitation before and after its insurance coverage commencement were evaluated using the data of 24,380 patients during the 3-year period from 2016 to 2018 that were archived by the National Health Information Database of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service in South Korea. ⋯ In 2016, pulmonary rehabilitation was prescribed more frequently for cerebral infarction; after 2017, it was prescribed more frequently for lung cancer. This study summarized the current status and trends of pulmonary rehabilitation in South Korea before and after National Health Insurance Service coverage, which commenced on January 1, 2017. A significant increase in the number of pulmonary rehabilitations was confirmed after the insurance coverage.
