Multicenter Study
Challenges of senior 8-year-program medical students' scientific research in China: A multicenter questionnaire-based study.
Among the diverse medical education systems in China, the 8-year program is dedicated to cultivating physician scientists. Although the research ability of senior students in 8-year medical programs is a pivotal quality, it remains unclear. This study aimed to clarify the current status and challenges of students' research experience, abilities, and outputs. ⋯ A higher proportion of students with outputs was motivated by the requirements for graduation or employment compared to students without outputs (71.4% vs 55.2%, P = .046). Senior 8-year-program medical students in China generally had high pressure to conduct research and devoted their efforts to overcome these challenges. More guidance and novel encouragement to enhance students' initiative and interest in research could be provided by medical schools and educators in the future.

The incidence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is increasing year by year. If patients cannot receive timely and effective treatment, DPN may lead to diabetic foot ulcers or even amputation. This risk factor has been widely concerned around the world. Massage, as a non-invasive physical therapy method, is gradually being applied in the adjuvant treatment of DPN. However, there is no systematic review of the adjuvant treatment of DPN by massage. Our study will explore the effectiveness and safety of massage applied in DPN. ⋯ INPLASY202220025.

As one of the most challenging complications in the management of diabetes mellitus, painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (PDPN) is accompanied by various clinical manifestations, including numbness, burning, coldness, and other sensory abnormalities in the extremities. Meanwhile, PDPN seriously affects the life quality of patients and causes great pain. Western medicine mostly provides symptomatic treatments, such as antioxidants, aldose reductase inhibitors, nerve nutrition, microcirculation improvement, and analgesic drugs on the basis of blood sugar control. Although certain efficacy has been achieved, the problem has not been solved at root. Mudan granules have some advantages in the treatment of PDPN, but there is insufficient high-quality clinical studies to verify this. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Mudan granules in treating PDPN. ⋯ This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Mudan granules in treating PDPN. The experimental results will provide evidence support to treat PDPN with Mudan granules.

In December 2019, a series of acute, atypical respiratory diseases was identified in Wuhan, China. The source of the illnesses was attributed to a novel coronavirus, named the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), and the subsequent disease it causes was named the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Evidence from previous coronavirus outbreaks has shown that infected patients are at risk for developing psychiatric and mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances. ⋯ CRD42022302649.

There is currently no pooled data in the literature to support whether additional facet joint block results in better clinical analgesia after percutaneous kyphoplasty. We assessed the existing evidence on the safety and efficacy of facet joint block in the treatment of patients with thoracolumbar compression fractures undergoing percutaneous kyphoplasty based on qualified trials. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/ARY3C.
