To investigate associations between inosine triphosphatase (ITPA) gene polymorphisms and long-term outcomes among chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients in Northeast China treated with Peg-interferon (IFN)/ribavirin (RBV). CHC patients who received Peg-IFN-2a/RBV treatment during between 2011 and 2013 at 5 hepatitis centers in Northeast China were enrolled. ITPA single nucleotide polymorphisms rs1127354 and rs7270101 from all patients were detected and their associations with 5-year outcomes were analyzed. ⋯ In patients who received more than 80% of the planned RBV dose, the 5-year virological response rate and the improvement in liver fibrosis were higher in those with ITPA rs1127354 non-CC with ITPase activity <25% compared with these outcomes in patients with ITPA rs1127354 CC with 100% ITPase activity. Multiple regression analysis revealed that HCV genotype non-1, low baseline HCV ribose nucleic acid (RNA) levels (≤4 × 105 IU/mL), interleukin-28B rs12979860 CC genotype, low baseline liver fibrosis (Fibroscan 0-2), and ITPA rs1127354 non-CC genotype were independent predictors for a high long-term virological response rate, whereas interleukin-28B rs12979860 CC genotype, ITPA rs1127354 non-CC genotype, and low baseline liver fibrosis were independent predictors for improvement of liver fibrosis. ITPA rs1127354 polymorphisms is predictors of long-term outcomes in CHC patients treated with Peg-IFN/RBV.

To summarize the characteristics of patients with delayed discharge from the post-anesthesia care unit and to analyze the factors and outcomes of delayed discharge. ⋯ The incidence of delayed discharge from the PACU was low, and it was more likely to occur in the elderly, during major operations, and under general anesthesia. Delayed recovery from anesthesia was the most common factor. Most patients were safely discharged from the hospital.

Exercise reduces chronic complications in individuals with diabetes and peripheral vascular diseases. In clinical practice, the use of air insole may reduce peak plantar pressure (PPP), and risk for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). However, there is no guideline on selecting air insole pressure for effectively reducing PPP. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of different air insole pressure on PPP at different walking durations. ⋯ People at risk of foot ulcers are suggested to wear shoes with 80 mm Hg of air insole for reducing PPP in the first metatarsal head and the second metatarsal head. Moreover, people may avoid wearing the stiffer insole (240 mm Hg) for more than 20 minutes.

A case of colonic MALT lymphoma with intra-abdominal abscess and lung metastasis: A case report.
Colonic mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is an unusual subtype comprising only 2.5% of all MALT lymphomas. Most cases of colonic MALT lymphoma are diagnosed at an early stage. Therefore, the clinical features of advanced-stage colonic MALT lymphoma have seldom been reported, and the endoscopic findings are not well established. In this study, we report the clinical and endoscopic characteristics of stage IV colonic MALT lymphoma and highlight the importance of repeat biopsy to figure out this rare disease. ⋯ This case report presents atypical clinical characteristics and colonoscopic findings of stage IV colonic MALT lymphoma. Clinical suspicion and repeat biopsy should be considered to diagnose this rare and diagnostically challenging cancer.

Evaluation of different doses of Femoston therapy for incomplete abortion: A prospective observational trial.
This study aimed to compare the efficacy of different doses of femoston with expectant management in patients with incomplete abortions. Patients diagnosed with incomplete abortion were included if they chose to continue medical treatment after relevant contraindications were excluded. Participants were divided into 3 groups: the femoston (1/10) and femoston (2/10) groups received different doses of femoston, and patients in the control group received expectant treatment. ⋯ Femoston is effective in treating incomplete abortion, with femostons containing 2 mg estrogen being more effective. Patients with incomplete abortion are treated with femoston, and menstrual recovery time may be shortened. Femostons may be a new option for pharmacological treatment of incomplete abortions.
