We aimed to investigate the effect of the chosen pedicle on nipple vascularity by evaluating changes in the microvascular circulation of the nipples in patients undergoing reduction mammoplasty through superb microvascular imaging study (SMI). 70 nipples were included in this retrospective study. There were 15 patients (30 nipples) in Group A using the inferior pedicle and 20 patients (40 nipples) in Group B using the superomedial pedicle. The vascular index (VI) of each nipple were evaluated preoperatively and at the third postoperative month using SMI. ⋯ The mean VI in Group B was 1.65 (0.7/2.9) preoperatively and 1.15 (0.2/1.9) at the third postoperative month (P < .05). While the VI increased by 11.3% in Group A, it decreased by 30.6% in Group B (P < .001). The changing of the VI was analyzed between comparable groups, and decreasing microvascular circulation of the nipple with use of the superomedial pedicle was detected by quantitative values, which can be useful in at-risk patient groups, the planning of surgical procedures, and early revisions at postoperative month 3.

Colorectal cancer originates from the epithelium of the large intestine and is a common malignant tumor in the gastrointestinal tract. However, the relationship between RRP9 and DDX21 and colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. GSE134834, GSE206800, and GSE209892 profiles for CRC were downloaded from the gene expression omnibus database generated using GPL20115 and GPL23126. ⋯ Comparative toxicogenomics database analysis showed that 7 genes (MAD2L1, MELK, RACGAP1, RRP9, WDR43, DDX21, and GTPBP4) were related to necrosis, inflammation, tumor, precancerous symptoms, hemorrhage, and weightlessness. RRP9 and DDX21 are highly expressed in CRC. The higher the expression level of RRP9 and DDX21, the worse the prognosis.

In order to develop uniform diagnostic standards and reporting terminology, the International Academy of Cytology and the American Society of Cytopathology have recommended the establishment of the International System for Reporting Serous Fluid Cytopathology (ISRSFC). ISRSFC has 5 diagnostic categories: non-diagnostic (ND), negative for malignancy (NFM), atypia of unknown significance (AUS), suspicious for malignancy (SFM), and malignant (MAL). So far, very few studies have evaluated the risk of malignancy (ROM) and performance characteristics (sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic accuracy) of different categories. ⋯ After reclassification, 9 (0.4%) cases were classified as ND, 547 (26%) as NFM, 94 (4.5%) as AUS, 386 (18.4%) as SFM, and 1067 (50.7%) as MAL. The ROMs for ND, NFM, AUS, SFM and MAL were calculated to be 50%, 24.9%, 36.8%, 89.0%, and 100%, respectively. As an easy-to-grasp reporting system, ISRSFC provides a consistent standard for better communication between physicians and pathologists.

Vitiligo is an acquired chronic depigmentary disorder affecting approximately 0.5% to 1% of individuals worldwide. The compound glycyrrhizin (CG), a complementary medicine, has been reported for treatment of vitiligo, but the evidence has not been systematically evaluated. We systematically assessed the efficacy and safety of CG in combination with conventional therapy for the treatment of vitiligo. ⋯ CG as a complementary medicine has a potential benefit in treatment of vitiligo. However, since the methodological flaws in the studies we included, more high-quality randomized controlled trials are warranted.

Zavegepant nasal spray is a novel CGRP receptor antagonist that has been developed for the acute treatment of migraine - a prevalent disease leading to disability and economic burden. The meta-analysis aims to quantify the efficacy of Zavegepant compared to standard care or placebo in achieving pain freedom, freedom from most bothersome symptoms (MBS), sustained pain freedom, and pain relapse at 2 to 48 hours. ⋯ This meta-analysis confirms the effectiveness of Zavegepant nasal spray in treating acute migraine, with significant improvements in pain and symptom relief. Further research is needed to determine the effect on pain relapse and overall safety.
