The current investigation aims to explore the relationship between matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) gene polymorphism and ovarian cancer (OC) risk. Two hundred forty pathologically confirmed OC patients and 390 healthy controls participated in the present investigation. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism was applied to investigate the present polymorphism. ⋯ Meta-analysis found that no significant results (all P > .05). In conclusion, our results indicate that MMP-3 gene polymorphism contributes increased risk to OC for southern Chinese population. And meta-analysis indicates that MMP-3 gene polymorphism contributes no risk to OC in other populations.

Breast cancer represents a prevalent malignancy that primarily impacts women, with pronounced consequences on their overarching health. The major therapeutic approach, encompassing surgical procedures, can often culminate in mastectomy, potentially inciting psychological turmoil and disorders. ⋯ The axillary approach for endoscopic mammary gland excision and immediate implant reconstruction permits patients to preserve the esthetics of the female form while undergoing conventional medical treatment. This methodology considerably enhances the psychophysical health of the patients, thereby marking it as an advantageous practice worthy of broad dissemination in the medical community.

Magnetic resonance imaging for the diagnosis of malignant mixed Mullerian tumor of ovary: Two case reports.
Malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (MMMT) is also known as carcinosarcoma, mostly occurring in the uterus, and occurred in ovary is very rare. The disease is highly aggressive. Two cases of MMMT of ovary and their imaging characteristics were collected in our study. ⋯ The disease is highly malignant and progresses rapidly. The elevation of CA125 should be taken seriously. The imaging findings of MMMT has certain characteristics. Multi-sequence magnetic resonance imaging may help to distinguish this disease from other pelvic tumors. Once found, surgical treatment is needed as soon as possible, followed by postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Pulmonary function, one of the main indicators of respiratory system assessment, is difficult to measure in specific cases. The study investigated the association between serum iron levels and pulmonary function. The cross-sectional study was conducted using data from 5319 participants from the 2010-2012 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. ⋯ Additionally, forced expiratory flow from 25% to 75% of FVC (mL/s) demonstrated a positive association with serum iron (β = 6.72; 95% CI = 2.30, 11.13; P = .0029). Serum iron level was positively correlated with pulmonary function within a certain range of serum iron concentration. Serum iron level may be a protective factor for pulmonary function.

The cost-effectiveness of sotorasib and its reasonable price in the United States (US) and China remain unknown. Our objective was to estimate the price at which sotorasib could be economical as second-line treatment for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer patients with Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog p.G12C-mutation in 2 countries. ⋯ Sotorasib could potentially be a cost-effective therapy in the US and China following price reductions. Our evidence-based pricing strategy can assist decision-makers and clinicians in making optimal decisions. However, further analysis of budget impact and affordability is needed.
