17α-Hydroxylase/17, 20-lyase deficiency (17OHD) is a recessively inherited autosomal disease caused by CYP17A1 gene mutations. It is characterized by failure to synthesize cortisol, adrenal androgens and gonadal steroids. However, it is rare in clinic combining with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ For patients with hypertension, hypokalemia and lack of pubertal development, the possibility of 17OHD should be considered. The subsequent treatment would be challenging in patients with combined 17OHD and T2DM, considering the potential contribution of glucocorticoids to diabetic balance and osteoporosis.

To assess ocular parameters and their association with anthropometric measurements in Indo-Trinidadians adults. This was a clinical, descriptive, cross-sectional study of ocular parameters and anthropometry in adults Trinidadians of South Asian descent (Indo-Trinidadian). Ocular parameters were measured using optical coherence tomography, intraocular lens master biometer, and an autorefractor. ⋯ Weight was negatively associated with the corneal topography. Height was negatively associated with the cup-to-disc ratio, central corneal thickness, and corneal topography. BMI had no statistically significant association with the ocular parameters investigated.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has evolved from a narrow and rare childhood-onset disorder to a widely publicized and researched lifelong disease recognized as common and significantly heterogeneous. Researchers have suggested that gastrointestinal symptoms in ASD may be a manifestation of an underlying inflammatory process. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis of ASD and gut microbiota in children. ⋯ The journal with the most published articles on this topic is Nutrients, whereas PLOS One is the most cited journal. The most used keyword is "gut microbiota," and the reference for the highest outbreak intensity is Hsiao. The research hotspots and trends predicted in this study provide a reference for further in-depth research in this field.

Sepsis is a heterogeneous syndrome caused by the immune response to severe infection. This study aimed to investigate the value of cardiac troponin I, lactic acid, procalcitonin, and serum complement C3 levels for predicting death in patients with sepsis. Patients with sepsis who were hospitalized in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at our hospital between June 2017 and October 2022 were included in this retrospective study and divided into a survival group and a death group according to their survival status after 28 days. ⋯ The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was 0.882 (95% CI: 0.794-0.941) in patients with sepsis predicted using a combination of cardiac troponin I, lactic acid, procalcitonin, and serum complement C3 levels, which was better than the predictive value of cardiac troponin I (AUC: 0.734, 95% CI: 0.628-0.824), lactic acid (AUC: 0.686, 95% CI: 0.576-0.781), procalcitonin (AUC: 0.727, 95% CI: 0.620-0.817), or serum complement C3 (AUC: 0.684, 95% CI: 0.575-0.780) alone. Cardiac troponin I, lactic acid, and procalcitonin levels are independent predictors of death, whereas serum complement C3 protects against death in patients with sepsis. The combination of cardiac troponin I, lactic acid, procalcitonin, and serum complement C3 levels has a better predictive value for death than any single measure alone in patients with sepsis.

Disulfidptosis has been reported as a novel cell death process, suggesting a therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment. Herein, we constructed a multiomics data analysis to reveal the effects of disulfidptosis in tumors. Data for 33 kinds of tumors were downloaded from UCSC Xene, and disulfidptosis-related genes (DRGs) were selected from a previous study. ⋯ The tumor immune microenvironment showed commonality among tumors based on immune infiltration and single-cell sequencing, and the analysis of tumor mutation burden, stemness and microsatellite instability showed a mostly positive correlation with DRGs. Moreover, referring to the prediction about clinical treatment, most DRGs can enhance sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents but decrease the response to immune inhibitors with increasing expression. In this study, a primarily synthetic landscape of disulfidptosis in tumors was established and provided guidance for further exploration and investigation.
