Thyroid cancers are among the most common endocrine cancers. An inflammation is associated with many stages of cancer. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to evaluate whether it has a prognostic significance inflammation marker. ⋯ There is a relationship between multifocality and invasion, and the risk of invasion increases as the tumor size increases in thyroid cancer. The N/LP ratio was significant as it could be a new marker in showing the relationship between thyroid cancer and its prognosis. Further studies are needed in which the prognosis is followed up, longer-term, more comprehensive, and confounding factors are excluded.

There is very limited evidence linking glyphosate exposure to bone mineral density in adults aged 20 to 59 years in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the correlation between urinary glyphosate concentrations and total bone mineral density (BMD) in adults aged 20 to 59 years. A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the 2013 to 2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which included 594 men (mean age 39.1 years) and 610 women (mean age 40.0 years). ⋯ Additionally, when stratified by age, the negative association was more significant in the 20 to 29 and 50 to 59 year age groups. When stratified by race, a significant negative association was found in races other than Hispanic. Therefore, the impact of glyphosate exposure on BMD should attract more people's attention.

Vascular complications associated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) increase the in-hospital mortality. Perforation of the inferior vena cava (IVC) during venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (V-V ECMO) cannulation and subsequent emergency management prior to vascular surgery has rarely been reported. ⋯ This case highlights several important lessons: When advancing a cannula, in this case, it is essential to first identify the guidewire placement to ensure proper guidance; In the event of a confirmed V-V ECMO-related vascular perforation of the IVC, maintaining negative pressure in the IVC through continued ECMO device operation and positioning the dislocated catheter to block the perforation site are crucial steps to control bleeding prior to emergency open vascular repair; After undergoing vascular repair, if ECMO support is still necessary, it is advisable to opt for a catheterization strategy that avoids previously repaired blood vessels.

Citrin is a calcium-bound aspartate-glutamate carrier protein encoded by the gene SLC25A13, mutations of which can cause citrin deficiency, an autosomal recessive disorder. The manifestations of citrin deficiency include neonatal intrahepatic choledeposits caused by citrin deficiency (NICCD: OMIM#605814), intermediate growth disorders and dyslipidemia caused by citrin deficiency, and citrullinemia type II (OMIM#603471) in adults. NICCD is a classical metabolic disorder that causes cholestasis in newborns. ⋯ Here, we report a rare case of citrin deficiency caused by a heterozygous deletion of the SLC25A13 gene. This case increases the clinical phenotypic profile of NICCD, suggesting that clinicians must be vigilant regarding such genetic metabolic diseases in the clinic for early diagnosis and treatment. NICCD should always be considered in the differential diagnosis of neonatal cholestasis.

Research on the prevalence and association of hyperbilirubinemia is controversial because of different cultures, demographics, and clinical conditions. The etiology of hyperbilirubinemia is affected by the environment and other factors in the newborn. The World Health Organization recommended a 1-day hospital stay after uncomplicated delivery, jaundice assessment before discharge, and screening on 3rd and 7th days after birth for hyperbilirubinemia. ⋯ ABO incompatibility ("O" blood type for mother and either "A" or "AB" or "B" blood type for newborn, P = .0411), G6PD deficiency (G6PD/6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase ≤ 1.0 in quantitative assay, P = .0422), Rh incompatibility (the mother's blood type was Rh negative and newborn blood type was Rh positive, P = .0416), fewer genotype rs4149056 frequencies (P = .0452), higher genotype rs2306283 frequencies (P = .0461), and higher genotype rs1805173 frequencies (P = .0471) were independent parameter for early onset severe hyperbilirubinemia of newborns. The prevalence of early onset severe hyperbilirubinemia in Chinese newborns is 13% in the East China region. Blood incompatibility, G6PD deficiency, fewer genotype rs4149056 frequencies, higher genotype rs2306283 frequencies, and higher genotype rs1805173 frequencies were independent predictors of early onset severe hyperbilirubinemia among newborns in the East China region (Level of Evidence: IV; Technical Efficacy: Stage 5).
