To discuss the early changes of Glu and Cho in the affected areas of different types of subjective cognitive decline, including amnestic MCI (aMCl), non-amnestic MCI (naMCI) and vascular cognitive impairment no dementia (VCIND), using Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (1H-MRS) technology. Routine head MRI and lH-MRS examinations were performed on 50 clearly diagnosed aMCI patients, 44 naMCI patients, 44 VCIND patients, and 44 elderly individuals with normal cognitive function. Measure the volume of the patient bilateral hippocampus. ⋯ In the left frontal lobe, relative to the aMCI and NC, the mI/Cr values in the naMCI were higher (P < .05). The changes in the concentration of 1H-MRS metabolites in the hippocampus can indicate the presence of hippocampal neuronal damage before morphological changes occur in the hippocampus. 1H-MRS NAA/Cr can reflect the cognitive function changes of patients to a certain extent. There are regional differences in mI and Glu metabolism in the brain between aMCI and naMCI groups. 1H-MRS provides an effective basis for clinical differentiation between aMCI and naMCI.

Association between swallowing disorder and prevertebral hyperintensity on magnetic resonance imaging in patients after cervical cord injury without major fracture.
This study aimed to clarify the association between swallowing disorder and prevertebral hyperintensity on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with cervical spinal cord injury (CSCI) without a major fracture. This retrospective observational study included 30 patients who were diagnosed with acute CSCI without a major fracture (mean age: 69.3 years, 27 men). Swallowing disorder was defined as tube-dependent nutrition because of obvious aspiration 28 days after injury. ⋯ The optimal cutoff point of the HIA was measured at 203.2 mm2 with 80.0% and 20.0% sensitivity and specificity, respectively, with an area under the curve of 0.848 (95% confidence interval, 0.657-1.000, P = .01). The prevertebral hyperintensity area on MRI for swallowing disorder in patients after cervical cord injury without skeletal injury is associated with swallowing disorder. The optimal cutoff point of the area was determined to be 203.2 mm2.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is considered one of the most common inherited disorders. In about more than 95% of all CAH cases, the deficient enzyme is 21-hydroxylase. Infertility is an important complication of this disease, and although this topic has been studied more frequently in females, cases, and literature reviews of the causes of infertility in male patients are constantly increasing. ⋯ There are many suspected causes of reduced male fertility in male CAH patients and the presence of testicular adrenal rest tumors is the main cause of infertility in this population. These benign tumors are believed to arise from ectopic adrenal cells in the testes, that grow under adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation in poorly controlled patients. Annual scrotal ultrasound is recommended in all males with CAH for detection and treatment of these tumors as early as possible before they cause permanent damage to the seminiferous tubules and irreversible infertility.

Older age is one of the most important shared risk factors for multiple chronic diseases, increasing the medical burden to contemporary societies. Current research focuses on identifying aging biomarkers to predict aging trajectories and developing interventions aimed at preventing and delaying the progression of multimorbidity with aging. Here, a transcriptomic changes analysis of whole blood genes with age was conducted. ⋯ Pearson analysis showed that the expression changes of these hub genes were highly correlated with age. Among them, 3 hub genes (IGLL5, POU2AF1, and Bach2) were identified with good accuracy (AUC score > 0.7), indicating that these genes were the best indicators of age. Together, our results provided potential biomarkers IGLL5, POU2AF1, and Bach2 to identify individuals at high early risk of age-related disease to be targeted for early interventions and contribute to understanding the molecular mechanisms in the progression of aging.

It is a crucial disease that descending necrotizing mediastinitis need to be treated promptly with proper antibiotics and drainage. The characteristics of its symptoms such as chest pain are difficult to distinguish from acute myocardial infarction. ⋯ Descending necrotizing mediastinitis made chest paint with elevated cardiac enzyme mimicked myocardial infarction.
