Heart failure (HF) is the most common cardiovascular disease in clinics. Processed Panax ginseng C.A. Mey. Products have significant therapeutic effects on HF. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the mechanism of action of Processed Panax ginseng C.A. Mey. Products in the treatment of HF. ⋯ The present study revealed that the treatment of HF with different processed ginseng products may be related to the regulation of the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, TNF signaling pathway, apoptosis pathway, mTOR signaling pathway, etc, and that the key active ingredients may be concentrated in black ginseng, which provides a theoretical basis and direction for the further study of the mechanism of action of ginseng. This provides a theoretical basis and research direction for further in-depth study of its mechanism of action.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that primarily affects the mucosal layer of the colon (large intestine). However, the relationship between Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM1), SELL and UC is unclear. The UC datasets, GSE87466 and GSE36807, were downloaded from the gene expression omnibus database. ⋯ These core genes were associated with lymphoproliferative disorders, inflammation and necrosis. WB results confirmed the high expression of ICAM1 and SELL in UC. ICAM1 and SELL are highly expressed in UC, and the higher the ICAM1 and SELL genes, the worse the prognosis.

Accurate and detailed spinal canal diameter transverse foraminal morphometry measurements are essential for understanding spinal column-related diseases and surgical planning, especially for transpedicular screw fixation. This is especially because lateral cervical radiographs do not provide accurate measurements. This retrospective study was conducted to measure the dimensions of the transverse foramen sagittal and transverse diameter (TFD), spinal canal diameter, the distance of the spinal canal from the transverse foramina at the C1 to C7 cervical level, and the anteroposterior and TFDs in the Turkish population. ⋯ Almost all measurements were significantly higher on the left side for younger patients (<65 years) whereas only AP & T diameters were significantly higher on the left side for older patients (>65 years) (P < .05). Computed tomographic imaging is better than conventional radiographs for the preoperative evaluation of the cervical spine and for a better understanding of cervical spine morphometry. Care must be taken during transpedicular screw fixation, especially in female subjects, more so at the C2, C4, and C6 levels due to decreased distance of the spinal canal from the transverse foramina.

There are few studies on risk factors for frozen shoulder, and even fewer Mendelian randomization (MR) studies on frozen shoulder. Therefore, we conducted a two-sample MR study to explore whether socioeconomic status (years of schooling, average total household income before tax), obesity (body mass index and waist circumference), individual behaviors (smoking initiation, alcohol intake frequency, coffee intake, nonoily fish intake, tea intake, beef intake, bread intake, cheese intake, oily fish intake, and fresh fruit intake), and diabetes (type 1 and type 2 diabetes) are associated with frozen shoulder. The exposure datasets and the outcome dataset were extracted from the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol Open genome-wide association studies project (https://gwas.mrcieu.ac.uk/). ⋯ Cheese intake (OR: 0.490; 95% CI: 0.267-0.899; P = .0213), non-oily fish intake (OR: 0.0993; 95% CI: 0.0220-0.448; P = .00267), years of schooling (OR: 0.453; 95% CI: 0.349-0.588; P = .00000000277), and average total household income before tax (OR: 0.434; 95% CI: 0.253-0.743; P = .00236) were discovered as protective factors. No horizontal pleiotropy was found in all analyzes we performed (P > .05). Our study indicated that type 1 diabetes was a risk factor for frozen shoulder while cheese intake, non-oily fish intake, years of schooling, and average total household income before tax were considered as protective factors for frozen shoulder.

Antimicrobial properties of plants have been investigated by a number of studies worldwide and many of them have been used as therapeutic alternatives because of their antimicrobial properties. The quest for suitable and affordable alternative in the face of increasing antimicrobial drug resistant has led researchers into exploring the use of plant extract in the treatment of infections. The antibacterial properties of turmeric (Curcuma longa) on selected bacteria were evaluated. ⋯ There was no inhibitory effect against P aeruginosa. There was significant difference between the ethanol and aqueous extracts (P < .05). This study reveal that Turmeric plant has antibacterial potential against selected organisms and may be of great use of pharmaceutical industries for the development of medicine to cure ailments and control abnormal serum lipid profile.
