This study aimed to investigate the level of self-quantification among patients with hypertension and identify the factors influencing this behavior. This study aimed to investigate self-quantification levels and identify influencing factors among 400 patients diagnosed with hypertension. Employing a convenience sampling method, the research was conducted across diverse healthcare settings, including a tertiary hospital, 2 community hospitals, 2 pension institutions, and 5 residential areas. ⋯ The study concludes that patients without medical insurance, with lower education levels, older age, and no complications tended to have lower levels of self-quantification. These findings underscore the necessity for targeted interventions to improve self-quantification in these specific patient groups. By addressing the identified influencing factors, healthcare providers can implement measures to enhance self-quantification among patients with hypertension.

Intestinal stent implantation using a water injection device with carbon dioxide and transparent cap: A case report.
Preoperative endoscopic intestinal stent placement can relieve the symptoms of malignant bowel obstruction (MBO) pending investigations, staging, and surgery, but it is a technically challenging procedure. This paper presents a woman with MBO who successfully underwent intestinal stent implantation using a water injection device with carbon dioxide and a transparent cap. ⋯ Single-person intestinal stent implantation using a water injection device with carbon dioxide and a transparent cap can achieve endoscopic intestinal stent placement for MBO.

Complex microbial ecosystems in both gastrointestinal and respiratory systems have been found to have a significant impact on human health. Growing evidence has demonstrated that intestinal dysbiosis can increase vulnerability to pulmonary infections. However, changes in the composition and activity of the intestinal flora after probiotic supplementation may alter the disease state of the host. ⋯ The control group showed an increase in opportunistic pathogens (Citrobacter, Massilia) during the antibiotic treatment. Probiotics interventions inhibit the growth of opportunistic pathogens. In addition, we found that the population of butyrate-producing bacteria (e.g., Ruminococcaceae UCG-005) increased following probiotic treatment.

Lumbar epidural analgesia is the gold standard for labor pain control. However, misplacement of epidural catheters into the subdural space may inadvertently happen. Unrecognized subdural administration of local anesthetics could result in serious consequences, including high spinal and brainstem blocks. This case report describes a case where subdural epidural catheter placement was recognized early but labor pain was adequately managed by dosage titration of subdural analgesia. ⋯ Early recognition that epidural catheters for neuraxial analgesia have been inserted into the subdural space is important for the prevention of high spinal blocks. Subdural analgesia could still be achieved by careful clinical assessment and titration of low analgesic doses. This report also presents important and clear serial computed tomographic images of catheter placement in the thoracic-lumbar subdural spaces and the extent of volume spread in the subdural space following administration of contrast medium.

Anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity is a major concern for anesthetists for more than 20 years. Many experimental and clinical studies have been conducted on this topic since late 1990s. However, bibliometric analysis of these papers has not been reported. ⋯ Anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity is very important, especially for pediatric anesthetists. This study is the first to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the most cited 100 publications on this field. Although there was a gap in the publications about this topic during COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that there will be many more publications on anesthesia-induced neurotoxicity since the mechanism, outcome and possible protection are still unknown.
