Citrobacter freundii induces sepsis with new-onset status seizure in an adult: A case report and literature review.
Sepsis with brain abscess induced by Citrobacter freundii in adults has rarely been reported and is extremely pathogenic with a high mortality rate. Early diagnosis of the infection still remains challenging. ⋯ Clinicians should consider the possibility of brain abscess when evaluating a patient with new-onset dizziness, fever, seizure, or other neurologic symptoms or signs, especially for patients whose mental status changes. metagenomic next generation sequencing and resistance genes could be considered when cerebrospinal fluid or blood results are negative and clinical manifestations are highly suspected of infection or when the treatment time is limited.

Since the 1950s, hypoxia has been recognized as a crucial characteristic of cancer cells and their microenvironment. Indeed, hypoxia promotes the growth, survival, and metastasis of cancer cells. ⋯ HIF1α is known as an angiogenesis converter in hypoxia, which promotes tumorigenesis, development, immune escape, recurrence, etc; This page goes into great detail on how HIF1α is activated during hypoxia and how the 2 signaling channels interact. It specifically emphasizes the significance of reactive oxygen species, the function of the PI3K/the serine/threonine kinase Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin cascade, and outlines the similarities between the 2 important factors (reactive oxygen species and PI3K/the serine/threonine kinase Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin cascade), nuclear factor κB, for HIF1α Important implications, in an effort to offer fresh views for the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and HIF1α research.

Adjunctive therapy for hypertension is in high demand for clinical research. Therefore, several meta-analyses have provided sufficient evidence for meditation as an adjunct therapy, without being anchored on reliable physiological grounds. Meditation modulates the autonomic nervous system. ⋯ In addition, VV can be changed, partially mediated by a reduction in CB activity. Trial registration number: ReBEC registry (RBR-55n74zm). Stage: pre-results.

Acute coronary syndrome (ACS), the acute manifestation of ischemic heart disease, remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Soon after ACS, autonomic imbalance acts to preserve the proper functioning of the cardiovascular system and consequently of the whole body. In this study, we perform a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of heart rate variability biofeedback in improving the prognosis in patients with ACS. ⋯ This systematic review will provide high quality evidence to assess the efficacy of heart rate variability biofeedback in patients with ACS.

To assess the effect of acupoint stimulation for Alcohol use disorders (AUD). ⋯ Acupoint stimulation and its combined therapy may better relieve AUD symptoms effectively and the treatment duration should be set at more than 2 weeks. However, due to the low-quality of the included RCTs, high-quality studies are needed to further confirm it in the future.
