Meta Analysis
Daridorexant for the treatment of insomnia disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Daridorexant is a novel dual orexin receptor antagonist that has shown efficacy as a treatment for insomnia in multiple randomized clinical trials. However, the efficacy and safety of daridorexant for treatment of insomnia disorder has not been characterized comprehensively in the literature. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis of available studies. We performed a meta-analysis to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of daridorexant for treatment of insomnia disorder. ⋯ Different dosages of daridorexant were tested for treatment of insomnia; however, 5 and 10 mg are not available because of issues of suboptimal effectiveness. Daridorexant showed better efficacy and safety for treatment of insomnia disorder at doses of 25 and 50 mg.

Patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery usually suffer from moderate to severe acute pain. Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) has been applied to relieve acute pain in various surgeries and improve postoperative outcomes. This study aimed to further identify the efficacy and safety of erector spinae plane block in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery. This study also evaluates the outcomes of the erector spinae plane block compared with other regional blocks. ⋯ This meta-analysis demonstrates that ultrasound-guided ESPB can provide effective postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery and improve postoperative outcomes, and it deserves to be recommended as an analgesic adjunct in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgeries.

Effects of ulinastatin therapy in emergency severe multiple trauma: A single-center randomized controlled trial.
Severe multiple traumas are one of the most common diseases and carry a significant financial burden with high disability and mortality. There are no effective drugs in the clinical management of severe multiple traumas, and there is an absence of evidence-based medicine concerning the treatment of severe multiple traumas. ⋯ The findings from the present research indicated that UTIs can improve the clinical outcomes of patients with severe multiple traumas and have fewer adverse reactions.

Diagnostic value of cell-free DNA in thyroid cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
An increasing number of studies have shown the potential diagnostic value of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) as a new biomarker in the management of thyroid cancer (TC); however, the accuracy of research results is inconsistent. This meta-analysis is the first to synthesize published results and evaluate the application value of circulating cfDNA in the diagnosis of TC. ⋯ The results of this meta-analysis suggest that cfDNA has value as an adjunct for the diagnosis of TC. Quantitative detection of cfDNA can achieve relatively high diagnostic accuracy. However, due to heterogeneity, the test results based on cfDNA for TC should be interpreted with caution.

Pneumonia is the fifth most common cause of death among the Japanese population, with 97% of the deaths occurring among older adults aged ≥65 years. The incidence ratio of aspiration pneumonia is high among the older adults. Therefore, its prophylaxis is important in geriatric medicine. In our previous studies, we reported that stimulation of acupoints at stomach meridian 36 and kidney meridian 3 of the lower limbs with a press needle improved the swallowing function of patients with dysphagia. Improvements in swallowing function may prevent aspiration pneumonia. This study aims to investigate the protective efficacy of press needle stimulation in the lower limbs for aspiration pneumonia. ⋯ This study will evaluate the effects of press needle on the prevention of aspiration pneumonia and the improvement of swallowing function in patients. The results of this study will help support the prophylaxis of aspiration pneumonia.
