Intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired pneumonia (ICUAP) is a major concern owing to its associated high mortality rate. Few studies have focused on ICUAP caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP). This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for ICUAP-associated death due to KP and to develop a mortality prediction model. ⋯ The predictive model was effective, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.823 (95% CI: 0.773-0.865). The number of independent risk factors is positively correlated with the risk of death. Our model shows excellent predictive performance.

We retrospectively investigated the natural course of hemoglobin levels after allogenic blood transfusion in total knee arthroplasty. All patients were treated according to the same clinical pathway, and blood tests were performed on the same day. All blood tests were done on pre-op, immediate post-op, midnight of op day, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 11th day after surgery. ⋯ The hemoglobin level of total knee arthroplasty patients with no blood transfusion was the lowest on the 3rd day after surgery and increased afterwards. If blood transfusion was done within 2 days after surgery, the hemoglobin level was the lowest on the 5th day after surgery and increased afterwards. If blood transfusion was done on the 3rd day after surgery, the hemoglobin level increased afterwards.

Endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS) is a rare disease in patients with uterine malignancies, accounting for <1%. Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LGESS) accounts merely 0.2% of gynecologic malignant tumor. Primary low-grade extrauterine endometrioid stromal sarcomas (LGEESS) is even more uncommon, with only a few documented case reports. We report a case of primary LGEESS exhibiting widely invasion in multiple organs after hysterectomy, which is the first case reported in Jiangsu Province of China. ⋯ The diagnosis of primary LGEESS is challenging mainly because of their unforeseen location and nongynecologic signs and symptoms. Total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy are recommended to LGESS, while additional resection for extrauterine disease depends on disease extent and resectability.

Intervention for modifying risk level of hypersexual behaviors among male parents with sexual offending history.
The increased sexual assault committed against women and young girls by people of the opposite gender has put their safety in danger in recent years. This has contributed to a growing number of adult sex offenders who have aggressive sexual attitudes. This study investigated the efficacy of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) in reducing the risk level of hypersexual behaviors among male parents. ⋯ Given this, this study suggests that CBT intervention reduces the risk level of hypersexual behaviors among male parents. Implications for protection agencies and policies were highlighted.

The purpose of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) treatment is to minimize the negative impact of the current exacerbation and to prevent the development of subsequent events. Therefore, it is important to identify readily available serological indicators during hospital admission to assess the prognosis of patients with AECOPD. All patients hospitalized in a Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of tertiary care hospital between January 2021 and December 2021 for AECOPD were analyzed using univariate correlations and binary logistic regression analysis with 2 models for associations between demographic, clinical, and laboratory features and AECOPD risk. ⋯ The present study indicated that the Cre/Cys C ratio is an easy, cheap, repeatable, and promising tool that allows us to evaluate the risk of AECOPD using serum markers. A low Cre/Cys C ratio was associated with a prolonged hospital length of stay and admission to the intensive care unit in AECOPD patients. However, the associations were not independent.
