The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has restricted many medical practices. We aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the number of bronchoscopies, outpatients, and hospital admissions. We retrospectively analyzed the number of outpatients, admissions, and bronchoscopies performed between March 2020 and May 2022. ⋯ During the second year of the pandemic, the number of bronchoscopies and admissions was not significantly affected by the waves of the pandemic. There were no significant differences in the number of admissions and bronchoscopies between the fourth and sixth waves. Although the number of bronchoscopies was found to be significantly affected in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the pandemic was much more limited thereafter.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on adverse fetal outcomes: A cross-sectional study.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been one of the most damaging pandemics in all of human history. Some of the most vulnerable groups within society such as pregnant women and children have also been affected. This observational research, cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate if there was any difference in the incidence of unfavorable outcomes in pregnancy such as miscarriage, intrauterine fetal demise, and early neonatal death during the year prior to the pandemic and the year of the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ The study included all pregnant women who had an unfavorable pregnancy outcome such as miscarriage and intrauterine fetal demise, as well as early neonatal death at the University Hospital of Split within the time frame mentioned previously. There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes in the year prior to the pandemic and during the year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our study showed that the pandemic did not have a negative effect on pregnant women and their fetuses; there was no increase in miscarriage, intrauterine fetal demise, or perinatal death during the year of the pandemic.

Bioresorbable scaffolds (BVS) provide a transient supporting force for blocked vessels and allow them to return to previous physiological characteristics. After verification with twists and turns, it has been acknowledged as an emerging revolution in percutaneous coronary intervention that expresses the current concept of intervention without placement. Through this bibliometric study, we organized the knowledge structure of bioresorbable scaffolds and attempted to predict future research hotspots in this field. ⋯ In the first visualized bibliometric analysis of BVS, we attempt to provide a panoramic view. By enrolling extensive literature, we review the growing trend of BVSs. Since its first introduction, it has been through periods of early prosperity, questioned safety subsequently and the resultantly advanced techniques in recent years. In future, the research should focus on utilizing novel techniques to consummate the manufacturing quality and assure the safety of BVSs.

Scabies is a neglected tropical disease that continues to have global impacts and long-term health consequences. It is caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabei var. hominis, which is an obligate ectoparasite that lives in the epidermis of the human skin. ⋯ The diagnosis of scabies may be assisted by invasive and noninvasive tools; However, the history and examination findings are usually adequate to confirm the clinical suspicion. Here, we present an updated review of scabies by focusing on the diagnostic approaches, treatment, and prevention of scabies.

Physical activity interventions have been a proven effective means of preventing or treating overweight and obesity in children and adolescents. The results of these interventions in many cases are based on the determination of the effect they produce on anthropometric evaluations, which allow the calculation of health indices. However, the effects of physical activity interventions on anthropometric assessments in Chilean children and adolescents have not been systematized. The objective of this study is to provide a detailed protocol for a systematic review with meta-analysis that synthesizes the available evidence on the effect of physical activity interventions on anthropometric indicators and health indices in Chilean children and adolescents and identifies the field-based methods and health indices most used for body composition estimation. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis protocol is designed to provide up-to-date evidence that could significantly assist public health policy makers and implementers of physical activity interventions through evidence-based guidance and recommendations.
