Direct-to-implant reconstruction is one of the breast repair techniques after mastectomy. Implant selection is critical in the short- and long-term success of direct-to-implant reconstruction after nipple-sparing mastectomy. In this study we developed a 10-step algorithm that we use before and during surgery. ⋯ There was no sulcus inferior displacement in any patient. Implant extrusion did not occur in any patient. This algorithm is an easy to use and effective method to obtain a stable and natural breast image in the long-term.

It has been reported that during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, bronchiectasis patients were adversely affected due to their limited respiratory functions and acute exacerbations which were triggered by viral infections. The increased concern in the population during the pandemic has affected the attitudes of people toward avoiding disease and patients' treatment compliance. It is unclear whether treatment adherence and anxiety levels of bronchiectasis patients have changed during the pandemic. ⋯ No significant difference was found in the total scores on the Beck Anxiety Scale between the patients and the control group. The bronchiectasis patients had high adherence to their current treatment during the COVID-19 period and were less affected by the pandemic and its psychological effects compared to the healthy population. Furthermore, individuals diagnosed with bronchiectasis who were not infected with COVID-19 demonstrated increased levels of anxiety compared to those who were infected with COVID-19 which may be due to their concern about contracting the disease.

Mind mapping is a combination of images and logical thinking in the form of pictures and texts. It presents a natural expression process that conforms to the divergent thinking of the brain, helping patients understand memory. This study aimed to investigate the impact of pain-education nursing with the aid of mind maps on postoperative pain scores and quality of life in patients with colorectal cancer. ⋯ After nursing, the observation group's visual analog scale scores at different times after the operation were significantly lower than those of the control group. The scores on the self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < .05). Pain-education nursing based on mind maps can effectively improve the daily living ability, pain symptoms, and quality of life of patients after colorectal cancer, and there is a reference value for post-nursing care of patients after colorectal cancer.

Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease with diverse prognosis and treatment outcomes. Current gene signatures for prognostic prediction are limited to specific subtypes of breast cancer. Cellular senescence is a state of irreversible cell cycle arrest that affects various physiological and pathological processes. ⋯ The risk signature was an independent prognostic factor for breast cancer patients. The senescence-related signature may be a useful biomarker for predicting prognosis and immunotherapy response of breast cancer patients. The risk signature may also guide adjuvant chemotherapy decisions, especially in hormone receptor positive (HR+) and human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2)- subtypes.

TBL1XR1, also known as IRA1 or TBLR1, encodes a protein that is localized in the nucleus and is expressed in most tissues. TBL1XR1 binds to histones H2B and H4 in vitro and functions in nuclear receptor-mediated transcription. TBL1XR1 is also involved in the regulation of the Wnt-β-catenin signaling pathway. Mutations in the TBL1XR1 gene impair the Wnt-β-catenin signaling pathway's ability to recruit Wnt-responsive element chromatin, affecting brain development. Mutations in this gene cause various clinical phenotypes, including Pierpont syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, speech and motor delays, mental retardation, facial dysmorphism, hypotonia, microcephaly, and hearing impairment. ⋯ We report the case of a child with West syndrome and a global developmental delay caused by a heterozygous mutation in the TBL1XR1 gene. This study adds to our understanding of the clinical phenotype of TBL1XR1 mutations and provides a realistic and reliable basis for clinicians.
