Approximately 1-third of patients with severe asthma are candidates for both omalizumab and mepolizumab treatment. We aimed to compare the clinical, spirometric and inflammatory efficacy of these 2 biologics in atopic and eosinophilic "overlap" severe asthma patients. In our 3-center retrospective cross-sectional observational study, the data of patients who received omalizumab or mepolizumab for at least 16 weeks to treat severe asthma were examined. ⋯ It has been shown that having high eosinophil counts does not affect the clinical and spirometric responder patient rates for either biological condition. The success of omalizumab and mepolizumab treatment is similar in patients with atopic and eosinophilic overlap with severe asthma. However, because the baseline patient inclusion criteria are not compatible, head-to-head studies comparing both biological agents are required.

The extensive and intricate relationships between circadian rhythm and cancer have been reported in numerous studies. However, in breast cancer (BC), the potential role of circadian clock-related genes (CCRGs) in prognosis prediction has not been fully clarified. The transcriptome data and clinical information were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus databases. ⋯ The nomogram exerted a favorable concordance index (0.798) as well as calibration performance, which strongly supports the clinical application of the nomogram. Our study indicated the disruption of the expression of CCRGs in BC and built a favorable prognostic risk model based on 3 independent prognostic CCRGs. These genes may be applied as candidate molecular targets for the diagnosis and therapy of BC.

Patients with incurable diseases experience difficulty carrying out activities of daily living and rely on caregivers. Caregivers of patients with fibromyalgia (FM) are unable to understand the extent of the patients' suffering because the pain sites are invisible. To address this problem, this study will apply an integrative healthcare service model to a single FM case to manage pain and enhance the quality of life and, subsequently, gather feedback from different sources regarding the treatment. This paper presents the study protocol. ⋯ The results will provide basic data for optimizing an integrative healthcare service system in Korea for patients suffering from chronic pain owing to diseases such as FM.

The Medicare Parts C and D Star Ratings system was established to improve care quality in Medicare. Previous studies reported racial/ethnic disparities in the calculation of medication adherence measures of Star Ratings in patients with diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. This study aimed to identify possible racial/ethnic disparities in the calculation of adherence measures of Medicare Part D Star Ratings among patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and diabetes, hypertension, or hyperlipidemia. ⋯ Minority patients were generally likely to be included in the measure calculation of fewer measures than White patients. Racial/ethnic disparities were observed in the calculation of Star Ratings measures among patients with ADRD and diabetes, hypertension, and/or hyperlipidemia. Future studies should explore possible causes of and solutions to these disparities.
