Cervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most frequently diagnosed cancer and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in women. Identifying new biomarkers for the early detection of CC is an essential requirement in this field. CXCL8 was originally discovered because of its role in inflammation by binding to CXCR1 and CXCR2; however, it is now known to play an important role in cancer. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the expression levels of potential biomarkers (CXCL8, CXCR1, and CXCR2) and to explore their diagnostic potential in CC. ⋯ In conclusion, our data demonstrated that combined serum CXCL8, CXCR2, and SCC measurements are helpful for CC diagnosis and can be used as potential biomarkers for the early detection of CC. Cytokines, such as CXCL8 and CXCR2, can be easily measured in most university hospital laboratories and in some private laboratories with a routine test.

Arytenoid dislocation (AD) is a rare complication of surgery under general anesthesia. The potential factors for AD remain poorly defined, and the identification of risk factors is beneficial for reducing its incidence. We found that patients undergoing liver transplantation appeared to be more susceptible to postoperative AD at our hospital. ⋯ Postoperative AD incidence was significantly elevated in patients undergoing liver transplantation. This finding should be clinically relevant and alarming for anesthesiologists and clinicians to help avoid arytenoid dislocation and improve patient outcomes. Further studies that incorporate detailed data are needed to determine risk factors for AD.

This study aimed to determine the incidence and evaluate the risk factors and outcomes of intraoperative hypothermia (IH) during general anesthesia in infants. Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data. A total of 754 infants younger than 1 year old who underwent surgery under general anesthesia were included. ⋯ Infants with hypothermia experienced a longer length of stay in the post anesthesia care units and intensive care units, postoperative hospitalizations, and tracheal extubation as well as a higher rate of postoperative hemorrhage than those with normothermia (all P < .05). Several factors were proved to be associated with an increased risk of IH after multivariate analysis: neonate (odds ratio [OR] = 3.685, 95% CI 1.839-7.382), weight (OR = 0.599, 95% CI 0.525-0.683), American society of anesthesiologists (OR = 3.418, 95% CI 2.259-5.170), fluid > 20 mL/kg (OR = 2.380, 95% CI 1.389-4.076), surgery time >60 minutes (OR = 1.785, 95% CI 1.030-3.093), and pre-warming (OR = 0.027, 95% CI 0.014-0.052). This retrospective study found that neonates, lower weight, longer surgery times, more fluid received, higher American society of anesthesiologists stage, and no pre-warming were all significant risk factors for IH during general anesthesia in infants.

An online questionnaire, including the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), was used to assess the psychological status of medical staff in Wuhan during the COVID-19 epidemic. Lasso-Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the risk factors of abnormal psychological status (anxiety or depression). 36.6% of the study subjects experienced anxiety, and 41.5% experienced depression. ⋯ The results of the re-sampling evaluation after 2 years showed that some medical staff still showed anxiety (42.4%) and depression (27.3%), and the proportion of females was higher. Early intervention should be carried out, and short-term and long-term intervention plans should be formulated.

Feeding modality evolution in traumatic brain injury patients with severe alteration of consciousness: A observational study.
The aim of this study was to compare feeding modalities and the level of consciousness in patients with a severe brain injury during reeducation and rehabilitation. The clinical data of vegetative state or minimal conscious state due to severe traumatic brain injury hospitalized in a coma arousal unit were collected from 2012 to 2019. Feeding modalities were evaluated clinically and with functional endoscopy evaluation of swallowing or video fluoroscopy and functional oral intake scale. ⋯ WHIM score was significantly higher in G2 than in G1 (P < .05). There was a positive correlation between functional oral intake scale and WHIM at discharge. Our results demonstrated that recovery of oral feeding in patients with a severe traumatic brain injury appeared in those who had the better improvement of consciousness level.
