The effects of exenatide and insulin glargine treatments on bone turnover markers and bone mineral density in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) related bone fracture. The effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor analogs for the treatment of T2DM on bone are controversial in human studies. This study aimed to compare the effects of GLP-1 receptor analogs exenatide and insulin glargine treatment on bone turnover marker levels and bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal female patients with T2DM. ⋯ OPG, RANK, RANKL levels did not change with insulin glargine treatment. No statistically significant difference was found between the pre- and posttreatment BMD, alkaline phosphatase, bone-specific alkaline phosphatase, and type 1 crosslinked N-telopeptide levels in both treatment arms. Despite significant weight loss with exenatide treatment, BMD did not decrease, OPG increased, and the resorption markers of RANK and RANKL decreased, which may reflect early antiresorptive effects of exenatide via the OPG/RANK/RANKL pathway.

In recent years, efferocytosis in cardiovascular diseases has become an intense area of research. However, only a few bibliometric analyses have been conducted in this area. In this review, we used CiteSpace 5.7. R2 and VOSviewer 1.6.17 software to perform text mining and knowledge map analysis. This study summarizes the latest progress, development paths, frontier research hotspots, and future research trends in this field. ⋯ Multinational cooperation and multidisciplinary intersections are characteristic trends of development in the field, and the immune microenvironment, glycolysis, and lipid metabolism will be the focus of future research.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that poses a significant threat to a patient's quality of life. Commonly used drugs include glucocorticoids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, and biological agents; however, there are associated side effects. Complementary and alternative medicines can play positive roles. Bibliometric analysis of herbal medicines for RA has been conducted, but current research trends in nonpharmaceutical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapies for the treatment of RA have not been studied. Here, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of the application of nonpharmaceutical TCM therapies for RA over the last 20 years. ⋯ This study characterizes the trends in the literature for nonpharmaceutical TCM therapy for RA over the past 20 years; showcasing the current research status for relevant researchers and their teams and providing a reference for future research directions.

Effect of a religious coping intervention of rational emotive behavior therapy on mental health of adult learners with type II diabetes.
Some previous studies have highlighted the high rate of mental health problems associated with type II diabetes (T2DM). The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a religious coping intervention of rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on the mental health of adult learners with T2DM. ⋯ In this study, it has been demonstrated that a religious coping intervention of REBT effectively improves the mental health of adult learners with T2DM. The study concludes that the religious coping intervention of REBT is a practical alternative medicine approach to enhancing the mental health of adult learners with T2DM.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a major global concern, seriously affecting the lives and health of the population. This retrospective study aimed to investigate changes in permanent tooth injury in the Xi'an area of China influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical records of 466 dental emergency patients in 2019 and 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. ⋯ The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic brought a certain change in the epidemiological characteristics of dental injury in the Xi'an area of China. Dental emergency departments should provide even more timely and effective treatments. It is also necessary to strengthen public education, with emphasis on the importance of timely medical treatment and regular follow-up for dental trauma.
