Effects of suprahyoid muscle strengthening exercise using kinesiology taping on muscle activation and thickness in community-dwelling elderly: A randomized controlled trial.
Recently, swallowing resistive exercise using kinesiology taping (KT) has been reported as a novel method for dysphagia rehabilitation However, clinical evidence is still unclear, and effects in the elderly have not been confirmed. ⋯ This study confirmed that suprahyoid muscle strengthening exercise using KT had a positive effect on the suprahyoid muscles in healthy older adults, thus suggesting the possibility of a therapeutic exercise method for dysphagia rehabilitation.

Prevalence of trichomoniasis infection among adults in Nigerian community settings.
Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) is a sexually transmitted pathogen. The study was conducted to determine its prevalence among 300 adult patients in 4 public health facilities in the Nsukka District of Enugu State, Nigeria. ⋯ The prevalence of TV infection is high among sexually active adults in the Nigerian community. It is therefore crucial to implement the increased public health actions such as regular and early diagnosis to reduce its prevalence.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon with abdominal pain, diarrhea, and mucopurulent stools as the main symptoms. Its incidence is increasing worldwide, and traditional treatments have problems such as immunosuppression and metabolic disorders. ⋯ Our aim is to provide more ideas for the clinical treatment and new drug development of UC, mainly by analyzing and sorting out the relevant literature on PubMed, summarizing and finding that it is related to the main genetic, environmental, immune and other factors, and explaining its pathogenesis from the NF-κB pathway, PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, and JAK/STAT signaling pathway, and obtaining anti-TNF-α monoclonal antibodies, integrin antagonists, IL-12/IL-23 antagonists, novel UC-targeted drugs such as JAK inhibitors and SIP receptor agonists. We believe that rational selection of targeted drugs and formulation of the best dosing strategy under the comprehensive consideration of clinical evaluation is the best way to treat UC.

The effect of Caudal Epidural Injection on healing in the treatment of chronic anal fissure.
Chronic anal fissure is called the reaching the muscle layer under the skin by deepening of the fissure in the breech skin. Our purpose is to enable the tissue to heal by relaxing the anal sphincter with caudal epidural injection. ⋯ Caudal epidural injection has a potential to be an alternative treatment option for chronic anal fissure.

We proceeded with this study to investigate the relationship between hypothyroidism and lipid profile disturbance. A cross-sectional study at Al- Mowasat University Hospital in Damascus was conducted from March 2021 to March 2022, and included 324 adults. For each participant with abnormal thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4) was requested. ⋯ Our findings suggest a higher level of lipids (LDL, TG, and Chol) among SCH and overt hypothyroidism compared to general population. A weak correlations of lipid parameters with TSH and FT4 were detected. It is not well evident whether a restoration of euthyroidism might influence the morbidity and mortality, especially cardiovascular comorbidities, in this population, which mandates future studies.
