The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical effect of direct isthmus repair via Wiltse approach and classical approach in the treatment of simple lumbar spondylolysis in young patients. Thirty-three patients with simple lumbar spondylolysis underwent direct isthmic repair via the Wiltse approach (n = 17) or the classical approach (n = 16). The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage volume, hospital stay, fusion rate, visual analogue scale (VAS), and the Oswestry disability index were evaluated and compared between the 2 groups. ⋯ The Wiltse approach was comparable to the classical approach in terms of bone graft fusion time and fusion rate. The Wiltse approach for isthmus repair can achieve the same or even better clinical effect than the classical approach, and the Wiltse approach is more minimally invasive. Pedicle screw-hook internal fixation system combined with autogenous iliac bone graft via Wiltse approach is a feasible, safe, and effective minimally invasive surgical method for the repair of isthmic spondylolysis in young patients.

To assess and compare the severity of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection in patients with and without a history of influenza vaccination. In this cross-sectional study descriptive statistics were used to analyze COVID-19-related parameters, including demographics, comorbidities, and severity. Normally distributed data with mean, standard deviation, and 95% confidence interval (CI) were reported, while non-normally distributed data was presented with median and inter-quartile range. ⋯ Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the vaccinated group had significantly less severe (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 0.683; 95% CI 0.513-0.911, P = .009) and critical (adjusted OR 0.345; 95% CI 0.145-0.822, P = .016) COVID-19 and were less likely to require oxygen therapy (adjusted OR 0.696; 95% CI 0.531-0.912, P = .009) after adjusting for confounders like age, gender and comorbidities. No significant differences in Intensive care unit admissions (adjusted OR 0.686; 95% CI 0.425-1.11, P = .122), mechanical ventilation (adjusted OR 0.631; 95% CI 0.308-1.295, P = .209) and mortality (adjusted OR 1.105; 95% CI 0.348-3.503, P = .866) were noted between the 2 groups. Influenza vaccination may significantly reduce the severity of COVID-19 but has no significant effect on intensive care unit admissions, mechanical ventilation and all- cause mortality.

Based on network pharmacology and molecular docking, we investigated the mechanism of action of Sheng Xue Bao mixture (SXBM) in treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA). We screened the HERB and traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform databases to identify the active ingredients and targets of SXBM. The targets associated with "iron deficiency anemia" were collected from GeneCards, TTD, and OMIM databases. ⋯ The molecular docking results demonstrated strong interactions between key components and their respective target proteins. Network pharmacological analysis suggested that SXBM could treat IDA by regulating various biological processes and related signaling pathways. It laid the foundation for further elucidating the molecular mechanism of SXBM treatment of IDA.

To explore the effects of ticagrelor and clopidogrel dual antiplatelet therapy on the mean platelet volume-to-lymphocyte ratio (MPVLR), maximum amplitude of adenosine diphosphate-induced platelet-fibrin clots (MAADP), and arachidonic acid (AA) inhibition rates in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). ⋯ Ticagrelor is more effective than clopidogrel for platelet inhibition after PCI in patients with ACS and is worthy of clinical recommendation.

This study aimed to employ network pharmacology to elucidate the mechanism by which Euphorbia fischeriana Steud (EFS) exhibits the efficacy on cirrhosis. The compounds and targets of EFS were retrieved from Traditional Chinese Medicine Integrated Database and Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP). Next, these compounds and targets were analyzed based on protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. ⋯ Top 5 targets are HSP90AA1, PTGS2, NOS2, MAPK14, and PPARG. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that pathways such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Lipid and atherosclerosis, and AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications were closely related to the infection and abnormal metabolism of the liver. The application of network pharmacology could identify potential targets of EFS with a low false-positive rate and provide novel insight into the mechanism of action of EFS on cirrhosis.
