This study aimed to investigate the relationship between white matter hyperintensity (WMH) and cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) using susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) with high resolution. Additionally, it sought to analyze the clinical significance of SWI with high resolution and its potential to guide intravenous thrombolysis in stroke patients. In this retrospective analysis, we examined 96 patients with hypertension after acute stroke in our hospital using SWI. ⋯ There is a positive correlation between CMBs and the grading of leukoaraiosis in patients with acute stroke and hypertension. The higher the degree of WMH, the more severe the microvascular lesions, increasing the likelihood of intracranial hemorrhage. SWI can provide valuable guidance for administering intravenous thrombolysis in patients with acute stroke.

Possible challenges in dosing non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and limited evidence in Saudi Arabia make it difficult to assess their appropriateness. This study aimed to assess the appropriateness of prescribing rivaroxaban and apixaban in hospitalized patients with newly diagnosed NVAF. This single-center, descriptive, retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia between December 2018 and December 2019. ⋯ There was a significant negative correlation between the drugs underdosing and creatinine clearance, r = -0.223, P = .001. The findings in our present study showed that majority of the patients received appropriate dosing of rivaroxaban and apixaban in hospitalized patients with NVAF. Healthcare providers should update themselves with the recent dosing recommendations for the non-vitamin K-antagonist oral anticoagulants in NVAF to further improve the dosing appropriateness in hospitalized patients with NVAF.

In the present study, we analyzed the detection rate and related influencing factors of fatty liver in the health examination population in Chengdu area. ⋯ The health screening of patients with fatty liver should be carried out regularly, and attention should be paid to the intervention and prevention of overweight people and people with basal metabolism diseases such as hyperglycemia and hypertension, so as to reduce the incidence of fatty liver.

Serum carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) is associated with the prognosis of various malignancies, including ovarian and pancreatic cancer. The relationship between preoperative serum CA125 level and the survival of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has not been fully studied. The aim of this study was to explore the prognostic value of CA125 in ICC after hepatectomy. ⋯ Cox proportional hazards models showed that preoperative elevated CA125, a tumor size > 5 cm, and an R1 surgical resection margin were independent prognostic predictors of overall survival and disease-free survival. CA125 also had strong predictive value for the prognosis of different ICC subgroups, including patients without lymph node metastasis and with elevated carbohydrate antigen 19-9 levels. Preoperative elevated serum CA125 level is a noninvasive, simple, and reliable indicator of the prognosis of ICC patients after hepatectomy.

We predicted that marital status may have predictive effects on young adult patients with cancer. A total of 37,028 young adult patients (20-39 years old) newly diagnosed with lymphoma by positive histology between 1988 and 2015 were collected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. Patients were separated into married and unmarried groups. ⋯ Moreover, married patients reported enhanced 10-year overall survival in the original group and the matched cohort. The multivariable Cox regression analysis revealed a vital advantageous influence of married status on overall mortality, with an adjusted hazard ratio (HR) of 0.54 (95% CI, 0.51-0.57, P < .001) and the association remained robust after propensity score matching (HR, 0.53, 95% CI 0.51-0.55, P < .001) and inverse probability of treatment weighting (HR, 0.53, 95% CI 0.51-0.56, P < .001) after adjusting for confounding factors. Marital status had predictive significance for overall survival in young adult patients with lymphoma.
