To evaluate the impact of a reduced iodine load using deep learning reconstruction (DLR) on the hepatic parenchyma compared to conventional iterative reconstruction (hybrid IR) and its consequence on the radiation dose and image quality. This retrospective monocentric intraindividual comparison study included 66 patients explored at the portal phase using different multidetector computed tomography parameters: Group A, hybrid IR algorithm (hybrid IR) and a nonionic low-osmolality contrast agent (350 mgI/mL); Group B, DLR algorithm (DLR) and a nonionic iso-osmolality contrast agent (270 mgI/mL). We recorded the attenuation of the liver parenchyma, image quality, and radiation dose parameters. ⋯ However, for both the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and CNR liver/PV no statistical difference was found, even if the CNR liver/PV ratio was slightly higher for group A. The mean dose-length product and computed tomography dose index volume values were significantly lower with DLR, corresponding to a radiation dose reduction of 36% for the DLR. Using a DLR algorithm for abdominal multidetector computed tomography with a low iodine load can provide sufficient enhancement of the liver parenchyma up to 100 HU in addition to the advantages of a higher image quality, a better signal-to-noise ratio and a lower radiation dose.

Cardiotoxicity is an important side effect of vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors therapy in the treatment of cancer. Massive studies have shown bevacizumab-related hypertension, venous, and arterial thrombosis. ⋯ This is the first reported case of bevacizumab-associated arrhythmia. It is advisable to consider the risk of arrhythmia in bevacizumab monotherapy or combines treatment.

Laparoscopic donor hepatectomy is being increasingly adopted in transplant programs due to its numerous advantages. However, the role of intrathecal morphine (ITM) in laparoscopic donor hepatectomy has not been thoroughly investigated. This study aimed to compare the analgesic effects and safety of ITM between laparoscopic and open donor hepatectomy. ⋯ However, the prescriptions for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) was significantly higher in the LH group than in the OH group (64.9% vs 41.7%; P < .001). The predictors of antiemetic agent prescription included the use of laparoscopic procedure (adjusted odds ratio [OR], 2.05; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.11-3.79; P = .021) and female sex (adjusted OR, 5.63; 95% CI, 3.19-9.92; P < .001). Preoperative ITM administration resulted in a significantly lower incidence of moderate-to-severe pain within 24 postoperative hours after laparoscopic donor hepatectomy than after open donor hepatectomy.

This study aimed to develop a noninvasive predictive model for identifying early postoperative recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (within 2 years after surgery) based on contrast-enhanced ultrasound and serum biomarkers. Additionally, the model's validity was assessedthrough internal and external validation. Clinical data were collected from patients who underwent liver resection at the First Hospital of Quanzhou and Mengchao Hepatobiliary Hospital. ⋯ However, the calibration curve of the predictive model slightly overestimated the risk of recurrence. The HCC-ER model developed in this study demonstrated high accuracy in predicting early recurrence within 2 years after hepatectomy. It provides valuable information for developing precise treatment strategies in clinical practice and holds considerable promise for further clinical implementation.

Studies have shown that aging significantly impacts tumorigenesis, survival outcome, and treatment efficacy in various tumors, covering high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). Therefore, the objective for this investigation is to construct an aging-relevant risk signature for the first time, which will help evaluate the immunogenicity and survival status for patients with HGSOC. Totaling 1727 patients with HGSOC, along with their mRNA genomic data and clinical survival data, were obtained based on 5 independent cohorts. ⋯ Notably, in the immunotherapeutic cohorts, low-risk aging signature was observed to link to better immunotherapeutic outcomes and increased response rates. Together, our constructed signature of aging has the potential to assess not only the prognosis outcome and immunogenicity, but also, importantly, the efficacy of ICI treatment. This signature provides valuable insights for prognosis prediction and immunotherapeutic effect evaluation, ultimately promoting individualized treatment for HGSOC patients.
