The benefits of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) plus lenvatinib in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain controversial. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TACE plus lenvatinib in the treatment of advanced HCC. ⋯ Compared with TACE or lenvatinib alone, TACE plus lenvatinib has achieved remarkable efficacy in patients with advanced HCC, and the efficacy versus risk need to be carefully balanced in clinical application.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly major depressive disorder: A randomized controlled trial.
Studies have reported the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). However, most studies focus on antidepressant effect of rTMS, but few on cognitive aspects. The present study aimed to explore the effect of rTMS on BDNF levels and cognitive function in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly MDD. ⋯ Compared with oral escitalopram alone, repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly patients with major depressive disorder can further improve the efficacy, and can more effectively improve the BDNF level and cognitive function, with ideal safety.

The combined orthodontic and restorative treatment for patients with malocclusion and dentition defects: A randomized controlled trial.
To explore the effects of a combined orthodontic and restorative approach on chewing, swallowing, and language function in patients with malocclusion and dental defects. ⋯ Adopting a combined orthodontic and restorative approach to intervene in patients with malocclusion and dentition defects is beneficial for improving their periodontal condition, effectively restoring chewing, swallowing, and language functions, and achieving high patient satisfaction.

Effect of ciprofol on swallowing function in patients undergoing painless gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Gastroscopy is one of the most commonly used diagnostic modalities for upper gastrointestinal disorders. This study compared the effect of ciprofol and propofol on swallowing function during painless gastroenteroscopy. ⋯ Compared with propofol, ciprofol has less inhibition on swallowing function, less impact on hemodynamics, less respiratory depression, and less injection pain, which is more suitable for painless gastroscopy.

Retinal astrocytic hamartoma (RAH) is a rare benign tumor originating from astrocytic cells located in the neural cell layer of the retina. It is commonly seen in patients with phakomatoses such as tuberous sclerosis complex or neurofibromatosis, rarely as an isolated retinal mass. This lesion is usually asymptomatic; however, these located in the area of the optic nerve, macula, or exhibiting the features of exudation, neovascularization may present visual disturbances and decreased visual acuity. ⋯ The prognosis for RAH is generally good, however, the lesion requires regular ophthalmologic follow-up to rule out the progression of the tumor mass. The patient 7-year follow-up history is without evidence of tumor growth, local or general deterioration of the condition.
