To evaluate the correlation between HOXB9 expression, and the prognosis and immune infiltration in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Pan-cancer HOXB9 expression was analyzed through TIMER2.0. The HOXB9 expression data of HNSCC and normal tissues were compared using the gene expression profiling interactive analysis (GEPIA) and the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) databases. ⋯ In addition, HOXB9 expression was positively correlated with tumor malignancy in the GEPIA and UALCAN databases (P < .05), and negatively with patient prognosis in both databases (P < .05). High HOXB9 expression was associated with increased infiltration of aDCs, NK CD56bright cells, NK cells, and Th2 cells (P < .05), while low HOXB9 expression was associated with an increase in the proportion of DCs, iDCs, mast cells, neutrophils, and Th17 cells (P < .05). HOXB9 likely functions as an oncogene in HNSCC by disrupting the immune landscape, and is a promising prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target.

The management of idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) poses a significant challenge because of its ambiguous etiology. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combined with mammotome-assisted minimally invasive surgery (MAMIS) for the treatment of IGM. This retrospective cohort study included patients with IGM who underwent treatment at our hospital between January 2017 and June 2022. ⋯ Group B showed shorter treatment time (11.7 ± 5.1 vs 15.3 ± 6.4 months, P = .001), higher 1-year CR (72.5% vs 45.5%, P = .002), and lower recurrence (7.2% vs 21.8%, P = .019) in comparison to Group A. Shugan Sanjie decoction promoted the shrinkage of breast lesions in patients with IGM. Combined with MAMIS, this treatment regimen shortened the treatment duration, accelerated the recovery process, and reduced the recurrence rate.

Intussusception is frequently observed pediatric emergency that is often followed by recurrent intussusception after initial treatment. This study investigated the risk factors associated with recurrent intussusception in children aged ≤ 3 years. Between January 2007 and December 2015, a cohort study was conducted by linking the Taiwan Maternal and Child Health Database to the Birth Certificate Application database and the National Health Insurance Research Database in Taiwan. ⋯ Furthermore, gestational age did not seem to affect the risk of recurrent intussusception. Surgical treatment and delayed onset of intussusception are associated with a reduced risk of recurrent intussusception; males are associated with increased risk of recurrent intussusception. In addition, we suggest that in early infancy, patients who received non-surgical treatment as the initial treatment for intussusception should be closely followed up for potential recurrence of intussusception.

To evaluate the impact of a reduced iodine load using deep learning reconstruction (DLR) on the hepatic parenchyma compared to conventional iterative reconstruction (hybrid IR) and its consequence on the radiation dose and image quality. This retrospective monocentric intraindividual comparison study included 66 patients explored at the portal phase using different multidetector computed tomography parameters: Group A, hybrid IR algorithm (hybrid IR) and a nonionic low-osmolality contrast agent (350 mgI/mL); Group B, DLR algorithm (DLR) and a nonionic iso-osmolality contrast agent (270 mgI/mL). We recorded the attenuation of the liver parenchyma, image quality, and radiation dose parameters. ⋯ However, for both the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and CNR liver/PV no statistical difference was found, even if the CNR liver/PV ratio was slightly higher for group A. The mean dose-length product and computed tomography dose index volume values were significantly lower with DLR, corresponding to a radiation dose reduction of 36% for the DLR. Using a DLR algorithm for abdominal multidetector computed tomography with a low iodine load can provide sufficient enhancement of the liver parenchyma up to 100 HU in addition to the advantages of a higher image quality, a better signal-to-noise ratio and a lower radiation dose.

This study aimed to investigate the risk factors associated with neonatal hypoglycemia and its correlation with blood glucose control in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). This study was a retrospective study. 880 pregnant women with GDM and their newborns were hospitalized from January 2018 to December 2022 in our hospital. The clinical information of GDM pregnant women and their newborns were reviewed and the hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) values measured within 1 week before delivery were collected. ⋯ The results were still significant in the abnormal glucose metabolism in newborn (OR: 2.84, 95% CI: 1.23-6.63) and neonatal hypoglycemia (OR: 3.64, 95% CI: 1.46-8.18). Overweight or obesity of GDM parturient before pregnancy, poor blood glucose control of GDM parturient and improper feeding of newborns are all risk factors for neonatal hypoglycemia. HbA1c before delivery has a certain predictive value for abnormal glucose metabolism in newborns.
