Islet transplantation (IT) has emerged as a significant research area for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and has witnessed a surge in scholarly attention. Despite its growing importance, there is a lack of bibliometric analyses that encapsulate the evolution and scientific underpinnings of this field. This study aims to fill this gap by conducting a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to delineate current research hotspots and forecast future trajectories within the IT domain with a particular focus on evidence-based medicine practices. ⋯ The findings underscore a mounting anticipation for future IT research, which is expected to delve deeper into evidence-based methodologies for IT sites, procedures, and novel therapeutic interventions. This shift toward evidence-based medicine underscores the field's commitment to enhancing the efficacy and safety of IT for diabetes treatment, signaling a promising direction for future investigations aimed at optimizing patient outcomes.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between endoscopic gastroesophageal valve grading and mean nocturnal baseline impedance (MNBI) and postreflux swallow-induced peristaltic wave index (PSPWI) in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). A total of 120 patients diagnosed with GERD disease were included in the study. According to the classification of endoscopic gastroesophageal valves, the patients were divided into 5 groups, group 1 as baseline group, and Group 2-4 as Hill grade I-IV. ⋯ This increase showed a significant positive relationship (P < .001). Endoscopic gastroesophageal valve grading was significantly correlated with MNBI and PSPWI in patients with GERD. These observations can serve as useful tools for assessing the severity of GERD and monitoring disease progression.

To investigate the value of preoperative ultrasound combined with 99mTc-MIBI imaging for the diagnosis of ectopic intrathyroid parathyroid gland (ETPG) in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). One hundred and eleven patients with SHPT who underwent total parathyroidectomy plus forearm transplantation from January 2015 to January 2022 in the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University were selected. All patients underwent routine preoperative ultrasonography and 99mTc-MIBI imaging, and with pathological diagnosis as the gold standard, the clinical data of ETPG patients were selected, including clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, preoperative ultrasonography and 99mTc-MIBI imaging for localization and diagnosis, intraoperative exploration and postoperative pathology, and postoperative follow-up. ⋯ A total of 5 ETPGs were detected by ultrasound combined with 99mTc-MIBI imaging, with a diagnostic accuracy of 83.3% (5/6). Patients' postoperative serum calcium and serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels were normalized or significantly decreased from preoperative levels. Ultrasound combined with 99mTc-MIBI imaging can achieve higher accuracy than either examination alone in the preoperative localization and diagnosis of ETPG in SHPT patients.

The purpose of the present study was to mechanically verify after vertebral augmentation (AVA) scores using a finite element method (FEM) with accurate material constants of balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) cement. Representative cases with AVA scores of 1 (case 1), 3 (case 2), and 5 (case 3) among patients with vertebral body fractures who underwent BKP were analyzed. A FEM model consisting of 5 vertebral bodies was created, including the injured vertebral body in each case. ⋯ Fractures were detected by compressive forces of 3300 N (upper) and 3300 N (lower), 3000 N (upper) and 3100 N (lower), and 1200 N (upper) and 1200 N (lower) in cases 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The AVA scoring system was mechanically verified using the accurate material constants of BKP cement. A multicenter survey and external validation are therefore required for the clinical implementation of the AVA score.

Cinnamon and motherwort are traditional Chinese medicines and are often combined to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia; however, the specific therapeutic mechanisms involved remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, we applied a network pharmacology approach to investigate the potential mechanisms of action of the drug pair cinnamon and motherwort (PCM) for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Relevant targets for the use of PCM to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia were obtained through databases. ⋯ Network pharmacology was used to identify the effective components and action targets of PCM. We also identified potential mechanisms of action for PCM in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Our results provide a foundation for expanding the clinical application of PCM and provide new ideas and directions for further research on the mechanisms of action of PCM and its components for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
