This study aims to evaluate chest computed tomography (CT) findings in hospital patients with primary varicella pneumonia (PVP). We retrospectively analyzed CT images of 77 PVP patients using 3D Slicer, an open-source software, to model lesions and lungs. This retrospective cohort study was approved by the Institutional Review Board (Ethical Committee, Renmin Hospital, Hubei University of Medicine, Shiyan, China) and waived the requirement for written informed consent. ⋯ Group A showed higher median percentages of lung collapse compared to Group B. The extent of left lung involvement is a critical predictor of emphysema in PVP patients, highlighting the importance of also monitoring the right lung for more severe cases. Lower emphysema levels correspond to more collapsed and infiltrated lung segments, suggesting a more severe clinical presentation.

Case of acute retinal necrosis with rapid progression to proliferative vitreoretinopathy: A case report.
Acute retinal necrosis (ARN) was first reported in 1971 by Urayama et al as an acute uveitis accompanied by retinal arteritis and white retinal lesions in the peripheral retina that can progress to a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). We have experienced a case of ARN that, unlike the common developmental course to an RRD associated with ARN, progressed to proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) involving the entire retina in 2 days. The purpose of this report is to present our findings in the case of ARN with an atypical rapid time course. ⋯ Our findings of a case of ARN showed that the progression from a local vitreous traction to a full circumferential PVR can develop in 2 days.

Paroxysmal sympathetic hyperexcitability (PSH) is a group of complex syndromes with various etiologies. Previous studies were limited to the description of traumatic brain injury (TBI), and the description of PSH after other types of brain injury was rare. We explored the clinical features, treatment, and prognosis of PSH after various types of brain injuries. ⋯ The etiology of PSH is complex. TBI may be the most common cause of PSH. Non-TBI may also be an important cause of PSH. Therefore, early identification, prevention and diagnosis are helpful for determining the prognosis and outcome of the disease.

Incidence of perioperative complications in COVID-19 survivors: Prospective observational clinical trial.
As long as the COVID-19 pandemic continued, the continuation of elective surgery had been unavoidable. There is still no consensus on the timing of elective surgery in patients who have recovered from COVID-19. The primary aim of this study was to determine the effect of time after COVID-19 infection on perioperative complications. ⋯ The incidence of perioperative complications decreased with increasing time after a positive SARS-CoV-2 infection, but there was no difference in perioperative complications between the groups. As the time between COVID-19 positivity and surgery increased, the need for oxygen support in the postoperative period decreased. It is not possible to share clear data on the timing of operation after SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Evaluation of adverse reactions induced by anti-tuberculosis drugs among hospitalized patients in Wuhan, China: A retrospective study.
The study aims to estimate the incidence and risk factors of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) induced by anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs. A single center retrospective analysis of patients taking anti-TB therapy from January 2016 to December 2018 in the hospital was conducted. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to identify these risk factors of ADRs induced by anti-TB drugs. ⋯ Anti-TB drugs usually induced the occurrence of severe and frequent adverse effects, such as hyperuricemia. Treatment duration, HREZ, HRZS and HRZ regimens, and type of TB (extrapulmonary) should be considered as high-risk factors. Thus, it should be recommended to consider optimum management during anti-TB therapy, particularly hyperuricemia monitoring and hepatic function test.
