Leiomyoma is a benign smooth muscle tumor which is rarely found in urethra. We hereby report a case of a 44-year-old female who presented with complaints of dysuria. ⋯ Urethral leiomyoma is a rare benign tumor that is often misdiagnosed in clinical practice. Diagnosis requires careful clinical examination. Surgical removal usually works well. It is important to remember that in some cases of acute urinary retention, it can be caused by a complete obstruction of a mass in the urethra. Urologists should be more cautious and experienced in handling such cases.

Blister formation in acute compartment syndrome: Unraveling the underlying predictors.
Blisters are a common complication of orthopedic trauma and can cause surgery delay and increase the risk of infection. This study aims to identify risk factors for blisters in patients with acute compartment syndrome (ACS). Our study collected data from 206 ACS patients admitted to 2 hospitals between November 2013 and January 2021. ⋯ Moreover, ROC curve analysis showed that a PLR value of 138 was the cutoff point for predicting the development of blisters in ACS patients. Our study identified seasonal factors (refer to these months like winter or spring), referral, and patients with higher PLR as independent risk factors, and a history of drinking as a protective factor for blister formation in ACS patients. These findings allow clinicians to individualize the evaluation of blister risk and perform early targeted therapies.

The prognostic value of prognostic nutritional index and renal function indicators for mortality prediction in severe COVID-19 elderly patients: A retrospective study.
Identifying prognostic factors in elderly patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is crucial for clinical management. Recent evidence suggests malnutrition and renal dysfunction are associated with poor outcome. This study aimed to develop a prognostic model incorporating prognostic nutritional index (PNI), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and other parameters to predict mortality risk. ⋯ The bootstrapped area under the curve was 0.858, confirming model stability. A combination of PNI, eGFR, D-dimer, and LDH provides useful prognostic information to identify elderly patients with severe COVID-19 at highest mortality risk for early intervention. Further external validation is warranted.

Application of intensive management of risk awareness combined with cardiac rehabilitation nursing in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction and heart failure.
The aim of this study is to assess the impact of intensive risk awareness management along with cardiac rehabilitation nursing in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction and heart failure. We selected 101 elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction and heart aging treated from January 2022 to March 2023. They were divided into control and observation groups based on hospitalization numbers. ⋯ The total incidence of adverse events was lower in the observation group (5.88%) compared to the control group (20.00%) (P < .05). Patient satisfaction was significantly higher in the observation group (96.08%) than in the control group (84.00%) (P < .05). Intensive risk awareness management combined with cardiac rehabilitation nursing in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction and heart aging can enhance medication compliance, improve quality-of-life, enhance self-care abilities, boost cardiac function, reduce incidents, and increase patient satisfaction.

Numerous studies related to esophagogastric junction cancer (EGC) have been published, and bibliometric analysis of these publications may be able to identify research hotspots and frontiers of EGC. Studies published on EGC between 2002 and 2021 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. The collaboration network of countries/regions, institutions, authors, co-citation network of journals, co-occurrence network, and overlay visualization of keywords were analyzed using the VOSviewer software. ⋯ Jaffer A Ajani was the most productive author while David Cunningham ranked the first in terms of total citations and average citations per article. Barrett's esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Helicobacter pylori, and obesity were common topics in earlier research, and recent years had seen a shift towards the topics of immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy. In conclusion, growing attention is paid to EGC research, especially in terms of immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
