Benign thyroid nodules (BTNs) represent a prevalent clinical challenge globally, with various ultrasound-guided ablation techniques developed for their management. Despite the availability of these methods, a comprehensive evaluation to identify the most effective technique remains absent. This study endeavors to bridge this knowledge gap through a network meta-analysis (NMA), aiming to enhance the understanding of the comparative effectiveness of different ultrasound-guided ablation methods in treating BTNs. ⋯ Various ablation methods are effective in treating BTNs, with RFA showing notable advantages. RFA with 2 sessions is particularly optimal for solid BTNs, while polidocanol ablation stands out for cystic nodules.

Superacute onset of Guillain-Barré syndrome after elective spinal surgery: A case report and literature review.
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) epitomizes an acute peripheral neuropathy hallmarked by an autoimmune retort directed at the myelin sheath enwrapping peripheral nerves. While it is widely acknowledged that a majority of GBS patients boast a history of antecedent infections, the documentation of postoperative GBS occurrences is progressively mounting. Drawing upon an exhaustive compendium of recent case reports, the disease's inception spans a gamut from within 1 hour to 1.2 years. ⋯ Given GBS's potential to instigate paralysis, respiratory collapse, and autonomic nervous system aberrations, alongside other pernicious sequelae, coupled with the exceptional rarity of the temporal onset in this particular instance, it undeniably proffers an imposing conundrum for anesthetists in the realm of differential diagnosis and therapeutic conduct. During the postoperative convalescence phase under anesthesia, should the patient evince deviant limb musculature vigor and compromised respiratory sinews, the prospect of GBS must not be consigned to oblivion. Precision in diagnosis conjoined with apt therapeutic measures could well be the harbinger of a divergent denouement for the afflicted patient.

Familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHCM) is an inherited cardiac disease caused by mutations of sarcomere proteins and can be the underlining substrate for major cardiovascular events. Early identification and diagnosis of FHCM are essential to reduce sudden cardiac death. So, this paper summarized the current knowledge on FHCM, and displayed the analysis via bibliometrics method. ⋯ Keywords formed 3 clusters, focused on the pathogenesis of FHCM, the diagnosis of FHCM, FHCM complications, respectively. The bibliometric analysis and visualization techniques employed herein highlight key trends and focal points in the field, predominantly centered around FHCM's pathogenesis, diagnostic approaches, and its complications. These insights are instrumental in steering future research directions in this area.

Sickle cell anemia (SCA), a hereditary hemoglobinopathy, is characterized by the presence of abnormal hemoglobin and has long been associated with a wide range of complications. While much attention has been given to the condition hematological aspects, gastrointestinal complications, particularly diarrhea, have been relatively understudied and often overlooked. This publication delves into the management of gastrointestinal challenges, with a focus on diarrhea, in individuals living with SCA. ⋯ It also highlights the need for continued research to further our understanding of gastrointestinal challenges in SCA and to identify potential areas for future therapeutic interventions. Ultimately, the comprehensive management of diarrhea in individuals with SCA is vital for their overall well-being. This publication serves as a valuable resource for healthcare providers, researchers, and caregivers in addressing the gastrointestinal challenges that accompany SCA, ultimately working toward a better quality of life for those affected by this condition.

Safety of deer antler extract in children: A 12-week randomized controlled clinical trial.
Deer antlers have been used as strong tonifying medicine in Asian countries, especially for the growth and development of children in pediatrics of Korean medicine. The safety of deer antler in adults cannot be applied directly to children because of their physiological characteristics. To accumulate reliable data on the safety of deer antler in pediatric populations, well-designed clinical studies are required. ⋯ The research discovered that the DAE is safe in terms of ADRs and laboratory parameters under the conditions studied. Further studies are required to accumulate safety data about DAE dosage adjustment and potential interactions with other medicines.
