The present study aimed to establish an effective prognostic nomogram model based on the Naples prognostic score (NPS) for resectable thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). A total of 277 patients with ESCC, who underwent standard curative esophagectomy and designated as study cohort, were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into different groups, including NPS 0, NPS 1, NPS 2, and NPS 3 or 4 groups, for further analysis, and the results were validated in an external cohort of 122 ESCC patients, who underwent surgery at another cancer center. ⋯ The calibration curves showed good consistency in predicting the 5-year survival between the actual observation and nomogram predictions. The decision curve also showed a higher potential of the clinical application of predicting the 5-years OS of the proposed nomogram model as compared to that of the 7th edition of TNM staging systems. The preoperative NPS-based nomogram model had a certain potential role for predicting the prognosis of ESCC patients.

To explore the effect of targeted second-generation sequencing technique to guide clinical diagnosis and medication on the therapeutic effect and prognosis of respiratory tract infection (RTI) in children. During January 2021 to June 2022, 320 children with RTI cured were selected in our hospital as the object of this retrospective study. The control group accepted empirical broad-spectrum antibacterial therapy and the observation group accepted targeted second-generation sequencing technique to guide diagnosis and medication. ⋯ The application of targeted second-generation sequencing technology to guide clinical diagnosis and drug use can elevate the RTIs efficacy and prognosis in childhood. Targeted second-generation sequencing can achieve precise treatment, reduce drug resistance of drug-resistant strains, and improve the efficacy. It has high promotion and application value.

Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor in intestinal tract, the early symptoms are not obvious. Gastric cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the gastric mucosal epithelium. However, the role of MYC and non-SMC condensin II complex subunit G2 (NCAPG2) in colorectal cancer and gastric cancer remains unclear. ⋯ MYC and NCAPG2 are highly expressed in colorectal cancer. The higher the expression of MYC and NCAPG2, the worse the prognosis. MYC and NCAPG2 are core molecules in gastric cancer.

To evaluate the right atrial function in patients with 3-branch coronary artery disease (TBCAD) without myocardial infarction by 2D speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) combined with real-time 3-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE). Fifty-six patients admitted to our hospital without myocardial infarction with TBCAD were selected. We divided them into 2 groups according to the coronary angiography results: 28 patients in group B (the rate of stenosis is 50% ~< 75%); 28 patients in group C (the rate of stenosis is ≥75%); in addition, 30 healthy volunteers were screened as group A. ⋯ RAPEF, RASRs, RASRe, and RASRa were decreased compared with groups A and B, while RAVmax, RAVmin, RAVp, RAVImax, and RAAEF were increased in group C (P < .05). There was a significant correlation between 2D-STE parameters and the results of NT-proBNP and Gensini scores (P < .05). The storage, conduit, and pump functions of the right atrium are reduced in patients with 3-branch coronary artery disease without myocardial infarction; 2D-STE combined with RT-3DE is valuable in the evaluation of the right atrium in patients with coronary artery disease.

As a result of increasing drug resistance, crossover resistance development, prolonged therapy, and the absence of different agents with innovative methods for implementation, the efficacy of recent antileishmanial medications is severely declining. So, it is vital to look for other medications from botanical remedies that have antileishmanial activity. The latex of Euphorbia abyssinica (E abyssinica) and the leaves of Clematis simensis fresen (C simensis) were macerated in methanol (80%). ⋯ C simensis and E abyssinica have a less hemolytic effect on human red blood cells at low concentrations. The outcomes from this investigation demonstrated that the preparation of C simensis and E abyssinica indicated significant antileishmanial activity. Therefore, further in vivo assessment of antileishmanial, cytotoxicity activity and quantitative identification of secondary metabolites are highly recommended.
