To explore the value of machine learning (ML) models based on contrast-enhanced cone-beam breast computed tomography (CE-CBBCT) radiomics features for the preoperative prediction of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-low expression breast cancer (BC). Fifty-six patients with HER2-negative invasive BC who underwent preoperative CE-CBBCT were prospectively analyzed. Patients were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts at approximately 7:3. ⋯ The AUCs of LR and RF, AB, and DT were statistically significant (P = .023, .005, .030). Nevertheless, no statistically significant differences were observed when compared to the other ML models. ML models based on CE-CBBCT radiomics features achieved excellent performance in the preoperative prediction of HER2-low BC and could potentially serve as an effective tool to assist in precise and personalized targeted therapy.

Relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and red blood cell distribution width and respiratory failure in COPD patients.
The neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and red blood cell distribution width (RDW) have been repeatedly demonstrated to be associated with risk of severity, progression, and prognosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but data on respiratory failure (RF) in patients with COPD are very limited. This study aimed to examine the relationship between NLR and RDW and the incident RF in patients with COPD. This is a retrospective study that reviewed data by examining the hospitalization medical records to identify those who were admitted with a diagnosis of COPD. ⋯ The Spearman test showed the significant correlation between NLR and WBC (correlation coefficient, 0.38; P = .008), NLR and RDW (correlation coefficient, 0.32; P = .013), and NLR and CRP level (correlation coefficient, 0.54; P < .001). The multivariable logistic regression showed that age (every additional 10 years) (OR, 1.785), NLR (OR, 1.716), RDW (OR, 2.266), and CRP (OR, 1.163) were independently associated with an increased risk of RF. This study demonstrated the independent associative effect of NLR and RDW with RF in patients with COPD, exhibiting the potential clinical role in evaluating the progress of COPD to RF.

To investigate the outcomes of the direct anterior approach (DAA) in total hip arthroplasty (THA) and its impact on improving hip joint function. This retrospective analysis included 94 patients who underwent THA between December 2017 and December 2020 at Dongguan Hospital, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. The study group comprised 50 patients who received the DAA, while the control group comprised 44 patients who received the postero-lateral approach (PA). ⋯ There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the 2 groups (P > .05). The DAA in THA resulted in reduced pain and intraoperative blood loss, contributing to the promotion of postoperative recovery in patients with good short-term outcomes. This procedure warrants further promotion.

The prognostic value of preoperative laboratory data indicators in patients with esophageal carcinoma: An observational study.
Preoperative laboratory data indicators significantly affect the prognosis of a variety of tumors. Nevertheless, the combined effect of systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on overall survival (OS) in patients with esophageal carcinoma remains unclear. Thus, we examined these associations among patients with postoperative staged T3N0M0 esophageal carcinoma. ⋯ SII and PNI, as a combined indicator, have a higher predictive value for OS. The NLR, SII, PLR, LMR, and PNI could all be used as independent predictors of OS in patients with postoperative staged T3N0M0 esophageal carcinoma. The combination of SII and PNI can significantly improve the accuracy of prediction.

Enteroviruses-infected hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) seriously threatens human health. This study aimed to analyze the research status, hotspots, and frontiers of HFMD. ⋯ By bibliometric analysis, researchers in the HMFD field can efficiently identify and visually represent their research focus and limitations. In the future, it is crucial to maintain ongoing surveillance of HFMD outbreaks and their pathogenic changes. Additionally, future research should extensively explore the molecular mechanisms underlying Enteroviruses-induced HFMD with a focus on developing vaccines and therapies.
