Metabolic syndrome and its association with physical activity in Sudanese early adolescents - Khartoum state, Sudan: An observational study.
The growing prevalence of overweight/obesity in adolescents highlights the significance of studying metabolic syndrome (MetS) in increasingly sedentary adolescents. To date, no study in Sudan has examined the association between MetS and physical activity (PA) among adolescents. This study aimed to assess the association between MetS and its components and PA among Sudanese early adolescents. ⋯ After adjusting for other study factors, the odds of MetS among adolescents in the 1st PA tertile were 7 times higher than those in the highest PA tertile (adjusted odds ratio = 7.01, 95% confidence interval: 1.48, 32.99). A physically inactive lifestyle was associated with higher odds of MetS and its components, especially waist circumference and triglyceride levels, in Sudanese early adolescents. This study highlights the importance of promoting PA in this age group.

Intestinal T-cell lymphomas are exceedingly rare diseases. Intestinal T-cell lymphoma NOS, as a "wastebasket" category, is difficult to diagnosis. Endoscopy can identify abnormal mucosa in most patients at a reasonably early stage. Therefore, it is crucial to increase the understanding of endoscopists in terms of the endoscopic characteristics of ITCL. ⋯ In the individual with unexplained anemia and waste, endoscopy should not be delayed. For each of polypoid lesion on white-light endoscopy, the endoscopist need to remain cautious, because every lesion in the same patient can exhibit the independence of histopathological features. Meanwhile, we suggest that endoscopists should routinely observe the terminal ileum, even take biopsy samples if necessary.

Association between preoperative albumin and length of hospital stay in non-cardiac surgery patients with pulmonary hypertension: A secondary retrospective analysis.
To explore the risk factors affecting the length of hospital stay (LOS) as well as to examine the relationship between preoperative serum albumin levels and LOS following non-cardiac, non-obstetric surgery in patients with pulmonary hypertension (PHTN). This study represents a secondary retrospective analysis based on 287 non-cardiac, non-obstetric procedures performed on 195 PTHN patients at a single institution in the USA between 2007 and 2013. The primary outcome was the LOS. ⋯ The stratified analysis results indicate that these findings are stable (p for trend > 0.05). In this study, it was observed that low levels of preoperative albumin were associated with an increased risk of prolonged hospital stay after non-cardiac, non-obstetric surgery in patients with PHTN. This implies that optimizing preoperative nutrition could potentially reduce the LOS for non-cardiac, non-obstetric surgery in patients with PHTN.

Risk factors and major adverse cardiovascular events of isolated coronary artery ectasia: An observational study.
To evaluate the cardiac index and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) events between isolated coronary artery ectasia (CAE) and control groups over 1 year period from diagnosis. A total of 18 patients who were diagnosed with isolated CAE in the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from December 2020 to December 2021 were included in CAE group. About 36 patients with non-obstructive coronary artery lesions were included in the control group. ⋯ Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that BMI and IVSd were independent risk factors for CAE. IVSd, LVPW thickness in diastole and E/e' in CAE group were significantly higher than control group. BMI and IVSd were independent risk factors for isolated CAE, and had a good predictive value for isolated CAE.

Study on the value of Inhibin B in the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and its correlation with traditional Chinese medicine syndromes: An observational study.
To investigate the expression of Inhibin B between various clinical stages, Chinese medicine dialectic typing, and in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) tissues and serum, and to evaluate the potential of Inhibin B as a new biomarker for NPC. Paraffin specimens of pathologically confirmed NPC tissues and paracancerous tissues were retrospectively collected, and the expression of Inhibin α (INHA) and Inhibin βB (INHBB) was detected by SP method, and their relationship with clinicopathological indexes was analyzed; in addition, patients with NPC who had received radiotherapy were included as the study subjects, and Epstein-Barr virus DNA (EBV-DNA), INHA, and INHBB in patients were detected by using the fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and chemiluminescent immuno-sandwiching method, respectively. EBV-DNA, EBV-viral capsid antigen-immunoglobulin A (VCA IgA), INHA, and INHBB were detected in the patients, respectively, and their relationships with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) patterns were also analyzed. ⋯ The levels of INHA and INHBB in nasopharyngeal cancer patients were lower than those in healthy people, and the levels in stage III + IV patients were lower than those in stage I + II patients. The levels of EBV-DNA and VCA IgA in nasopharyngeal cancer patients were correlated with the Chinese medicine patterns, and had different patterns. The expression of Inhibin B may be related to the progression of NPC, and it has certain typing significance for different TCM syndromes of NPC, which is helpful for TCM typing diagnosis.
