Favorable liver and skeletal muscle changes in patients with MASLD and T2DM receiving glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist: A prospective cohort study.
To investigate changes in skeletal muscle mass and fat fraction in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) undergoing treatment with Semaglutide for 6months. This single-arm pilot study included 21 patients with MASLD who received semaglutide for T2DM. Body weight, metabolic parameters, liver enzymes, fibrosis markers, skeletal muscle index (cm2/m2), and fat fraction (%) at the L3 level using the two-point Dixon method on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as well as liver steatosis and liver stiffness assessed using MRI-based proton density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF) and MR elastography, respectively, were prospectively examined before and 6 months after semaglutide administration. ⋯ Although not statistically significant, Body weight (kg) (79.9 vs 77.4), body mass index (BMI) (kg/m2) (28.9 vs 27.6), and liver stiffness (kPa) (28.9 vs 27.6) showed a decreasing trend. Fibrosis markers such as M2BPGi, type IV collagen, and skeletal muscle area did not differ. Semaglutide demonstrated favorable effects on liver and skeletal muscle steatosis, promoting improved liver function and diabetic status.

Serial changes in anxiety levels related to corticosteroid use: A single-center prospective study.
Patients with autoimmune diseases treated with corticosteroids sometimes display feelings of anxiety regarding corticosteroid use. In this single-center prospective study, we aimed to evaluate the serial changes in anxiety levels related to corticosteroid use in 18 patients with autoimmune diseases. The degree of anxiety toward corticosteroid use was assessed using the visual analogue scale. ⋯ Additionally, we found that patients who had a poor understanding of the drugs showed little or no changes in their anxiety levels related to corticosteroid use at discharge. These results suggest that some aspects of anxiety related to corticosteroids might be groundless and substantiated by assumptions without a complete understanding of corticosteroid functioning. Patient education regarding corticosteroid use may lead to reductions in anxiety levels and improvement in quality of life of the patients.

The predictive value of delta-like3 and serum NSE in evaluating chemotherapy response and prognosis in patients with advanced small cell lung carcinoma: An observational study.
Lung cancer is one of the most malignant tumors with fastest morbidity and mortality. Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most malignant pathological type of lung cancer with early metastasis and poor prognosis. At present, there is a lack of effective indicators to predict prognosis of SCLC patients. ⋯ DLL3 was expressed in the most of SCLCs. DLL3 expression level in the tumor and NSE level in the serum may be useful biomarkers to predict the prognosis of SCLC. DLL3 may be a potential therapeutic target for SCLC in the future.

The aim of this study was to construct a classification model for the automatic diagnosis of pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures using radiomics-based machine learning. We retrospectively collected elbow joint Radiographs of children aged 3 to 14 years and manually delineated regions of interest (ROI) using ITK-SNAP. Radiomics features were extracted using pyradiomics, a python-based feature extraction tool. ⋯ The area under the curve (AUC) of anteroposterior and lateral elbow radiographs is 0.65 and 0.72. Radiomics can extract and select the most valuable features from a large number of image features. Supervised machine-learning models built using these features can be used for the diagnosis of pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures.

Clinical characteristics, survival analysis and influencing factors of distant metastasis in patients with acromelanomas: A retrospective study.
The prognosis of acromelanomas (AM) is worse. The objective of this study was to investigate the clinical features of distant metastasis of AM and the factors affecting the survival and prognosis of patients. In this study, a retrospective study was conducted to select 154 AM patients admitted to Nanjing Pukou People's Hospital from January 2018 to April 2021 for clinical research. ⋯ The results of Logistic regression model showed that LDH ≥ 281 U/L, NLR ≥ 2.96, LMR ≤ 3.57, newly diagnosed stage > stage II, distant metastasis, multiple site metastasis and tumor ulcer were independent risk factors for poor prognosis of AM patients (P < .05). Patients with AM had a higher proportion of distant metastasis, mainly lung and lymph node metastasis. Increased LDH, increased NLR, decreased LMR, higher initial stage, distant metastasis, multiple site metastasis, and combined tumor ulcer were closely related to the poor prognosis of patients after surgery.
