Shenghua decoction for postpartum hemorrhage attributed to uterine atony: An observational study.
This retrospective study aimed to investigate the preventive effects of Shenghua decoction (SHD) for postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) attributed to uterine atony (UA). Records of 84 patients were retrospectively analyzed, with 42 assigned to the treatment group and 42 to the control group. Both groups received carbetocin, and patients in the treatment group additionally underwent SHD. ⋯ There were no significant disparities in treatment-related adverse events between the 2 groups. The findings of this study suggest that the preventive effects of SHD combined with carbetocin were superior to those of carbetocin alone for preventing postpartum hemorrhage. However, high-quality prospective studies are needed to validate and confirm these results.

The analysis of GM (1, 1) grey model to predict the health resource allocation in Jilin Province, China: An observational study.
To predict the development of health resource allocation in Jilin Province during the 14th 5-Year Plan period, and to provide a scientific basis for promoting the improvement of its service capacity. The data of the health resource from 2015 to 2022 were obtained from the Jilin Statistical Yearbook, and the number of medical institutions, medical beds, health technicians, licensed (assistant) physicians, registered nurses and pharmacists were selected as evaluation indicators, and the grey prediction model constructed by Python was used to predict the development from 2023 to 2025. ⋯ Except that the pharmacist team failed to meet the planning objectives of the 14th 5-Year Plan, the remaining health resources could meet the planning requirements. The allocation level of health resources in Jilin Province has been continuously improved, but it still faces the problems that the allocation of medical beds needs to be optimized, the doctor-nurse ratio needs to be improved, the reserve of registered nurses is insufficient, there is a gap in the pharmacist team, and the development of pharmacy services is slow.

From thinning to disappearance: A case report on the healing pattern of multiple and giant plantar warts.
Plantar warts, caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, are a common skin condition on the plantar surface. Despite the availability of various treatments, achieving satisfactory outcomes remains elusive. This study explores a novel therapeutic approach combining traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) soaking therapy with cryotherapy to address this challenge. ⋯ Our findings suggest that relying solely on cryotherapy is insufficient for effectively treating plantar warts. The key to successful treatment lies in inhibiting wart proliferation and continuously thinning them, which can be achieved through soaking in TCM. This study demonstrates the potential of combining cryotherapy with TCM soaking as a novel and effective therapeutic approach for treating multiple and giant plantar warts.

It is still very difficult to diagnose pertussis based on a doctor's experience. Our aim is to develop a model based on machine learning algorithms combined with biochemical blood tests to diagnose pertussis. A total of 295 patients with pertussis and 295 patients with non-pertussis lower respiratory infections between January 2022 and January 2023, matched for age and gender ratio, were included in our study. ⋯ The optimal features and 3 machine learning algorithms including K-nearest neighbor, support vector machine, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) were used to develop diagnostic models. Using univariate logistic regression analysis, 18 out of the 27 features were considered optimal features associated with pertussis The XGBoost model was significantly superior to both the support vector machine model (Delong test, P = .01) and the K-nearest neighbor model (Delong test, P = .01), with the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.96 and an accuracy of 0.923. Our diagnostic model based on blood biochemical test results at admission and XGBoost algorithm can help doctors effectively diagnose pertussis.

Observational study of in-hospital mortality risk from bladder cancer: Five years of experience at a tertiary referral hospital in Indonesia.
Bladder cancer (BC) is a neoplasm arising from the bladder. It requires appropriate management and its prognosis depends on many factors. This study aimed to analyze the factors that influence outcomes in BC management. ⋯ Based on multivariate analysis, the route of admission (odds ratio [OR] 0.19), irregular visit (OR 6.21), metastasis (OR 3.58), radiotherapy (OR 21.12), and traditional medicine (OR 0.21) were independent factors of in-hospital mortality. The mortality rate for BC was considerably high. Irregular visits, metastasis, type 2 diabetes, and radiotherapy were independent risk factors for mortality.
