Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) is a type of pneumonia with unknown cause, presenting with symptoms like dyspnea, fever, and cough. Solanine poisoning can cause symptoms like increased heart rate, rapid breathing, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, but there are no known cases of it causing COP. ⋯ Regularly monitoring disease progression is crucial for patients with solanine poisoning who have pulmonary symptoms. Promptly conducting chest CT scans and bronchoscopy is advised to check for any infections. It is also important to rule out pneumonia related to connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease and provide appropriate treatment promptly.

To evaluate the alarm notification of artificial intelligence in detecting parasites on the KU-F40 Fully Automatic Feces Analyzer and provide a reference for clinical diagnosis in parasite diseases. A total of 1030 fecal specimens from patients in our hospital from May to June 2023 were collected, and parasite detection studies were conducted using the KU-F40 automated feces analyzer (normal mode method, floating-sedimentation mode method), acid-ether sedimentation method, and direct smear microscopy method, respectively. The positive detection rate of parasites in the 1030 fecal specimens was 22.9% (236 cases), of which the KU-F40 normal mode method had a detection rate of 16.3% (168 cases), the acid-ether sedimentation method had a detection rate of 19.0% (196 cases), and the direct smear microscopy method had a detection rate of 13.1% (135 cases). ⋯ The positive detection rate of parasites using the KU-F40 normal mode method is higher than that using the direct smear microscopy method. It has high sensitivity and specificity and has advantages such as high automation and fast detection speed. It can replace the microscopy method for routine screening and has higher clinical application value in the diagnosis of intestinal parasitic diseases.

Male infertility is a multifactorial disease due to spermatogenesis impairment, with etiology remaining unknown for roughly one-third of infertile cases. Several studies have demonstrated that genetic variants are male infertility risk factors. CFAP43 and TEX14 are involved in the spermatogenesis process. ⋯ For CFAP43 rs10883979, in the recessive model, the combination AA + AG was associated with male infertility when compared to the GG genotype (OR = 0.26; 95% CI: 0.06-0.85; P = .02). For TEX14 rs79813370, a protective effect against infertility risk was identified in the presence of the T allele of rs79813370 when compared to the G allele (OR = 0.48; 95% CI: 0.32-0.72; P < .001). Our results suggest that CFAP43 rs10883979 and TEX14 rs79813370 are likely associated with male infertility in the Vietnamese population, in which the G allele of rs79813370 may be a risk factor for male infertility.

Combining pharmacotherapy with lifestyle intervention is recommended for obese class II patients who fail lifestyle therapy and for obese class I patients. Diethylpropion, an obesity medication, has been approved for use in Indonesia, which is an Asia-Pacific country. This retrospective study aimed to assess the short-term effects of diethylpropion on weight and fat loss in obese patients in Indonesia. ⋯ Waist circumference was insignificantly reduced by 5.6 ± 0.0 cm (4.9 ± 2.8%) (P = .21) after 84 days of diethylpropion therapy. This study revealed no significant changes in patient systolic and diastolic pressures despite showing mild increases after 70 days. The combination of diethylpropion and an appropriate diet resulted in weight loss accompanied by significant fat loss and preserved muscle mass without an increase in blood pressure during the 12-week treatment period.

Multimodal ultrasound imaging for patent foramen ovale and pulmonary arteriovenous malformation in patients with cryptogenic stroke or migraine: A prospective diagnostic study.
Right-to-left shunt (RLS) caused by patent foramen ovale (PFO) and pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) have been associated with a variety of diseases, and reliable techniques for detecting RLS are essential for diagnosis. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of multimodal ultrasound imaging, including transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) plus contrast transthoracic echocardiography (CTTE) and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) plus contrast transesophageal echocardiography (CTEE) for PFO and PAVM in patients with cryptogenic stroke or migraine. This prospective study enrolled patients with cryptogenic stroke or migraine admitted to First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University between July 2018 and April 2023. ⋯ The sensitivity and specificity of the TTE + CTTE were 89.4% and 85.7%, respectively, whereas the sensitivity and specificity of TEE + CTEE were 99.1% and 100%, respectively. The missed diagnosis rate of TTE + CTTE and TEE + CTEE was 65.7 % and 12.5%, respectively. The combination of TEE + CTEE may be a more reliable and sensitive tool to detect PFO and PAVM than TTE + CTTE in patients with cryptogenic stroke or migraine.
