Influencing factors of glycemic control in singleton pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus in western China: A retrospective study.
To investigate the factors influencing glycemic control in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) patients and their impacts on pregnancy outcomes, providing insights for GDM management. Pregnant women diagnosed with GDM at a tertiary hospital in western China in 2019. Participants were categorized based on varying levels of glycemic control during pregnancy. ⋯ Compared with the satisfactory group, the unsatisfactory group has lower gestational age, lower rates of cesarean section and placenta previa, and higher rates of postpartum hemorrhage for mothers; lower length and weight, and higher rates of premature birth, jaundice, hypoglycemia, pneumonia, respiratory distress syndrome, anemia, hospitalization, and hospitalization for more than 15 days in both pediatric unit and neonatal intensive care unit for newborns (P < .05). Elevated prepregnancy body mass index, FPG in early pregnancy, 1-h and 2-h PG during OGTT, and with a history with GDM are independent factors influencing insulin utilization, while elevated 0-h PG is an independent influencing factor of unsatisfactory glycemic control. Poor glycemic control has negative impacts on both maternal and fetal outcomes under 2 classifications.

Sedentary behavior (SB) has been linked in the past by observational studies to gastrointestinal illnesses, although the exact cause of the link is still unknown. To deal with this problem, we carried out a Mendelian randomization (MR) study to thoroughly examine the connection between SB and common gastrointestinal illnesses. We selected instrumental variables representing the SB from the UK Biobank study, including watching television viewing, playing computer, and driving. ⋯ The replication analysis confirms the same conclusion. The results of this study demonstrate a causal relationship between cachexia and genetically predicted SB. To further understand the underlying pathogenic mechanisms at play, more study is required.

The most popular traditional Chinese exercise (TCE) techniques include Tai Chi, Yijinjing, Baduanjin, Wuqinxi, and Qigong. Exercise is advised as a primary treatment for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) according to clinical standards. According to several studies, TCE may be an effective way to help people with KOA manage their pain, stiffness, and physical function. Which TCE therapy is the most effective and whose particular usefulness is still debatable. The network meta-analysis (NMA) method is used in this study to evaluate and compare the effects of various TCE therapies on KOA patients. ⋯ This NMA will help determine the best TCE treatment for KOA and offer evidence-based bias for clinical decision-making.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety between electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (ENB) and computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous localization before resection of pulmonary nodules. ⋯ Both ENB and CT-guided are valuable technologies in localizing lung nodules before video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery based on current investigations. ENB achieved a lower pneumothorax rate than the CT-guided group. In our opinion, there is no perfect method, and decision-making should be given the actual circumstances of each institute. Future prospective studies in the form of a randomized trial are needed to confirm their clinical value.

Epidemiological and other studies have shown that the occurrence and progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are closely related to diet. To further explore the causal association between dietary habits and RA, we performed a bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. The dataset related to dietary habits is from genome-wide association studies, including 143 dietary habits. ⋯ Among current drinkers (drinks usually with meals yes + it varies vs no) was positively correlated with RA. Spread type (low fat spread vs any other) was negatively correlated with RA. RA was positively correlated with milk type (skimmed vs any other) and spread type (tub margarine vs never).
