Observational Study
Transactivation DNA-binding protein-related genes were associated with salivary gland injury in primary Sjögren syndrome.
The purpose was to identify transactivation DNA-binding protein-related genes in salivary gland injury in primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) in southwest China. We downloaded the datasets of GSE7451, GSE23117, and GSE40611. In order to screen the candidate genes, 2 kinds of machine learning algorithms were used. ⋯ We revealed that CSF2RB could be the candidate gene of pSS. CSF2RB was involved by regulating various immune cells. The expression of CSF2RB was significantly upregulated, which was related to the increase of γδ T cells.

As the population ages, cognitive impairment leading to dementia and related disorders presents an increasingly significant societal burden. Transcranial alternating current stimulation emerges as a potential noninvasive treatment, yet remains an area of ongoing research. Using the Science Citation Index Expanded within the Web of Science Core Collection database, we identified 144 relevant articles spanning from 1965 to December 1st, 2023. ⋯ Significant contributions were observed, particularly from authors in the USA, Germany, and Italy. Brain connectivity and oscillation stood out as the primary research subjects, with electroencephalography being the most widely used tool to detect underlying mechanisms. Our findings suggest promising applications of transcranial alternating current stimulation, particularly 40 Hz-gamma, in cognitive impairment among older adults, highlighting the need for further investigation using multimodal cognitive assessment tools and rigorous clinical research.

Sepsis, a multifaceted syndrome driven by an imbalanced host response to infection, remains a significant medical challenge. At its core lies the pivotal role of glycolysis, orchestrating immune responses especially in severe sepsis. The intertwined dynamics between glycolysis, sepsis, and immunity, however, have gaps in knowledge with several Crucial genes still shrouded in ambiguity. ⋯ These sentinel genes demonstrated profound affiliations with various immune cell facets, bridging the complex terrain of glycolysis, sepsis, and immune responses. In line with our endeavor to "unveil the glycolysis in sepsis," the discovery of IER3, DSC2, and PPARG reinforces their cardinal roles in sepsis pathogenesis. These revelations accentuate the intricate dance between glycolysis and immunological shifts in septic conditions, offering novel avenues for therapeutic interventions.

To explore the relationship between meaning in life and vulnerability to crisis among undergraduate nursing students and the chain mediating effect between moral values identification and positive psychological capital (PsyCap). A total of 330 undergraduate nursing students majoring in traditional Chinese medicine in ethnic minority areas of Yunnan Province were administered the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, Moral Values Identification Identity Questionnaire, Positive PsyCap Questionnaire, and Crisis Vulnerability Scale. Meaning in life was negatively correlated with crisis vulnerability and positively correlated with moral values identification and positive PsyCap. ⋯ Moral values was positively correlated with positive PsyCap. Chain mediation effect analysis demonstrated that meaning in life cannot directly predict crisis vulnerability, but it can predict crisis vulnerability through 3 indirect paths: the mediating role of moral values identification, the mediating role of positive PsyCap, and the chain mediating role of moral values identification and positive PsyCap. Meaning in life can indirectly reduce crisis vulnerability among undergraduate nursing students by enhancing moral values identification and positive PsyCap.

Colonic lipomas (CLs) are benign tumors of the adipose tissue of the gastrointestinal tract that are often asymptomatic. A search of medical literature in English using PubMed and Google Scholar was conducted for articles related to CL. Occasionally, patients present with intestinal bleeding or obstructive symptoms. ⋯ Surgical and endoscopic techniques are widely used to manage CLs. The challenge for physicians is differentiating this lesion from malignant colonic lesions, at the outset. The risk of misdiagnosis is possible, and the recommendation in cases of doubt is still segmental surgical resection, as it ensures correct collection of lymph nodes for appropriate staging of presumed colonic carcinoma.
