Chronic ankle pain significantly impairs daily activities and athletic performance with osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) in Hepple stages IV and V, which are often causative factors. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of autologous osteochondral transplantation (AOT) for the treatment of these conditions. This retrospective study was conducted from May 2020 to May 2023 at Cangzhou Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Combined Hospital, including patients with a diagnosis of Hepple stage IV or V OLT confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and arthroscopy. ⋯ No adverse effects were observed in the donor knee sites, as confirmed by the stable pre- and postoperative International Knee Documentation Committee Knee Evaluation Form scores. Recovery of physical abilities was achieved on average within 7.3 weeks for daily activities and 13.4 weeks for sports activities. AOT effectively treats Hepple stage IV-V OLT, improves ankle function, promotes cartilage regrowth, and allows quick resumption of daily and athletic activities without compromising donor-site integrity.

Investigation of traditional Chinese medicine constitution in individuals afflicted by dry eye disease: A retrospective study.
The aim of this study is to explore the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitution among individuals suffering from dry eye disease. Following the diagnostic criteria outlined in TFO DEWS II, a total of 114 patients with dry eye were included in this study. Based on the classification criteria for dry eye, the patients were categorized into 3 distinct dry eye subtypes. ⋯ Further analysis, using lasso regression and binary unconditional logistic regression identified dizziness, lumbago, and weakness as influencing factors for both mixed-type and evaporative-type dry eye. In this study, we extensively examined the TCM constitution in individuals with dry eye, offering valuable insights and guiding future TCM-related research in the context of dry eye. Additionally, we established correlations between TCM syndrome patterns and dry eye indicators.

Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA) as 2 types of autoimmune diseases are frequently concomitant, and Mendelian randomization (MR) was applied in this study to assess the causal relationship between them. In this study, single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was used as the instrumental variable for Mendelian analysis, and the SNP data of GCA and PMR were obtained from the FinnGen Biobank databases. SNPs are significantly correlated with GCA and PMR and were screened based on preset thresholds. ⋯ MR analysis indicates that GCA increases the risk of PMR and PMR is an important risk factor for GCA, with a causal relationship. The potential value of reasonable management of PMR in patients with GCA has received high attention. In addition, novel GCA therapeutics may be indicated for PMR, and it is a potential for further investigation.

Texture analysis based on CT for predicting the differentiation of esophageal squamous cancer: An observational study.
To explore the feasibility and application value of texture analysis based on computed tomography (CT) for predicting the differentiation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Patients diagnosed with ESCC who underwent chest contrast-enhanced CT before treatment were selected. Based on the pathological results, the patients were stratified into poorly differentiated and moderately well-differentiated groups. ⋯ The best critical values for SD, inhomogeneity, and entropy were 17.538, 0.017, and 3.917, respectively. The areas under the ROC curve were 0.793, 0.792, and 0.729, respectively, with the SD and inhomogeneity being the best. The application of texture analysis on venous phase CT images holds promise as a method for forecasting the degree of differentiation in esophageal cancers, which could significantly contribute to the preoperative noninvasive evaluation of tumor differentiation.

Clinical observation of low temperature plasma ablation combined with collagenase injection in lumbar disc herniation.
To observe the effect of low temperature plasma ablation combined with collagenase injection on lumbar disc herniation. 90 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to the pain department of our hospital and receiving surgical treatment from April 2021 to April 2023 were included in this retrospective study, and were divided into 2 groups according to different treatment plans. One group was treated with low-temperature plasma ablation combined with collagenase injection, and the other group was treated with low-temperature plasma ablation alone. The sample size of both groups was 80 cases. ⋯ The Lehmann score of cryo-plasma ablation combined with collagenase injection group was significantly higher than that of cryo-plasma ablation group at 1 day and 3 months after treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P < .05). The overall efficacy of low-temperature plasma ablation combined with collagenase injection is better than that of low-temperature plasma ablation alone. Low temperature plasma ablation combined with collagenase injection in the treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation has less pain, faster recovery.
