To construct a set of quality indicators (QIs) for dementia diagnosis and management in a primary care setting. ⋯ This new set of dementia QIs is feasible, reliable, and valid and can be used to improve primary dementia care. Because of the innovative quality criteria, the set is complementary to the existing dementia QIs.

To obtain population-based estimates of emergency department (ED) visits by long-term care (LTC) residents. ⋯ LTC residents made frequent visits to the ED. The visit types showed distinct patterns that suggest a need for better access to medical care for common conditions and a greater emphasis on fall prevention in LTC.

To explore measures of metabolic syndrome and glucose metabolism in families with exceptional longevity. ⋯ Despite similar body composition, the offspring of nonagenarian siblings showed a lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and better glucose tolerance than their partners, centralizing the role of favorable glucose metabolism in familial longevity.
