Tripe palms is a distinctive paraneoplastic cutaneous sign which is frequently associated with internal malignancy, specially carcinomas of the lung and stomach. We describe a patient with ovary carcinoma who showed a curious rugose thickening of the palms with accentuation of the normal dermatoglyphic ridges. The lesions were a specially prominent on the fingertips. ⋯ Histopathologic findings in palmar lesions consisted of an undulant epidermis, with hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, and papillomatosis. Excision of the ovary carcinoma was followed by complete regression of the cutaneous lesions. We review the literature about tripe palms and discuss the relationship between this striking cutaneous manifestation and internal malignancy.

Pemphigoid nodularis: a case with 230 kDa hemidesmosomes antigen associated with bullous pemphigoid antigen.
We report a 73-year-old woman with typical clinical, histological and immunofluorescence features of pemphigoid nodularis. Direct immunofluorescence studies of prurigo nodularis-like lesions and peribullous skin showed the linear deposition of IgG and C3 at the basement membrane zone. Circulating IgG against the basement membrane was also detected by indirect immunofluorescence. The serum from the patient was shown to contain the autoantibody against 230 kDa hemidesmosomal antigen associated with bullous pemphigoid antigen.

We studied the effects of a Clostridium perfringens-derived wound-healing substance (WHS) on the healing of thermal burn wounds. Third-degree burn injuries were inflicted on the back skin of rats. We histologically evaluated the effects of WHS ointments and compared them with those of lysozyme chloride ointment. ⋯ In the WHS ointment-applied groups, electron microscopic observation showed that new collagen fibers were regularly formed in the dermis. On the other hand, in the lysozyme chloride ointment-applied groups, new collagen fibers were present, but were irregularly formed. The main wound healing stimulative action of the WHS ointment could be due to its acceleration of new capillary formation.

A case of pyoderma gangrenosum on the dorsal aspect of the right second and third fingers of a 50-year-old woman is reported. The patient had been wounded at the above-mentioned site by a cutter. This wound developed into a painful ulcer which enlarged rapidly. ⋯ Based on this data, the case was diagnosed as pyoderma gangrenosum. The patient responded to treatment with systemic corticosteroids. Pyoderma gangrenosum at this site of the fingers seems to be rare.

An 11-year-old boy presented with inflamed tinea pedis followed by a generalized id type skin eruption, with disappearance of the rash after treatment of the mycotic foot lesions. The pathogenesis of this process is not precisely known. Fungal infection was not detected from the generalized skin lesions. Various clinical forms of dermatophytid reaction are discussed.
