Effective targets for systolic blood-pressure control in patients with type 2 diabetes are unclear. ⋯ Among patients with type 2 diabetes, the incidence of major cardiovascular events was significantly lower with intensive treatment targeting a systolic blood pressure of less than 120 mm Hg than with standard treatment targeting a systolic blood pressure of less than 140 mm Hg.
