Multicenter StudyPredictive factors for acute and late urinary toxicity after permanent prostate brachytherapy: long-term outcome in 712 consecutive patients.
To describe the frequency of acute and late Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) urinary toxicity, associated predictive factors, and resolution of International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) in 712 consecutive prostate brachytherapy patients. ⋯ Most urinary symptoms resolved within 12 months after prostate brachytherapy, and significant long-term urinary toxicity was very low. Refined patient selection and greater technical experience in prostate brachytherapy were associated with less urinary toxicity.

Recursive partitioning analysis of prognostic factors for survival in patients with advanced cancer.
To construct a predictive model for survival of patients referred to the Rapid Response Radiotherapy Program using recursive partitioning (RP). ⋯ We have demonstrated that RP can be used to predict the survival of patients with advanced cancer. However, this model has no advantages compared with our published prognostic models that use the survival prediction scores and number of risk factors.

Impact of adding concomitant chemotherapy to hyperfractionated accelerated radiotherapy for advanced head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma.
To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of a hyperfractionated accelerated radiotherapy (RT) schedule combined with concomitant chemotherapy (Cx) in patients with locally advanced head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma. ⋯ With this chemoradiotherapy regimen, excellent LRC and survival rates were achieved, with acceptable acute toxicity.

To identify the prognostic factors for spinal cord astrocytoma and determine the effects of surgery and radiotherapy on outcome. ⋯ The results of our study have shown that histologic type is the most important prognostic variable affecting the outcome of spinal cord astrocytomas. Surgical resection was associated with shorter survival and thus remains an unproven treatment. Postoperative radiotherapy significantly improved survival for patients with infiltrative astrocytomas but not for those with pilocytic tumors.
