Low-Dose Pelvic Computed Tomography Using Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3-Dimensional Algorithm: A Phantom Study.
To evaluate the image quality and radiation dose reduction in pelvic computed tomography (CT) achieved with an adaptive iterative dose reduction 3-dimensional (AIDR 3D) algorithm using a phantom model. ⋯ The AIDR 3D algorithm substantially reduced image noise and improved the image quality of pelvic CT images compared with those obtained with the FBP algorithm and can thus be considered a promising technique for low-dose pelvic CT examinations.

Assessment of Filtered Back Projection, Adaptive Statistical, and Model-Based Iterative Reconstruction for Reduced Dose Abdominal Computed Tomography.
To compare standard of care and reduced dose (RD) abdominal computed tomography (CT) images reconstructed with filtered back projection (FBP), adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR), model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) techniques. ⋯ Clinically significant lesions (< 8 mm) can be missed on abdominal CT examinations acquired at a CT dose index volume of 1.3 mGy regardless of patients' size and reconstruction techniques (FBP, ASIR, and MBIR).

Case ReportsClot Through the Heart: Paradoxical Embolism With Thrombus-in-Transit at Multidetector Computed Tomography.
We present the case of a 67-year-old man with concomitant stroke and pulmonary embolism 1 day after radiofrequency catheter ablation for refractory atrial tachycardia. A chest computed tomographic angiogram revealed "thrombus-in-transit" across a patent foramen ovale, confirming the diagnosis of paradoxical embolism. Paradoxical embolism is a rare definitive diagnosis. Our case is a key demonstration of the even rarer instance where such a diagnosis is confirmed at multidetector computed tomography.

Comparative StudyInitial phantom study comparing image quality in computed tomography using adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction and new adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction v.
The purpose of this study was to assess the image quality of a novel advanced iterative reconstruction (IR) method called as "adaptive statistical IR V" (ASIR-V) by comparing the image noise, contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and spatial resolution from those of filtered back projection (FBP) and adaptive statistical IR (ASIR) on computed tomography (CT) phantom image. ⋯ Our phantom studies showed that ASIR-V provides a significant reduction in image noise and a significant improvement in CNR as well as spatial resolution. Therefore, this technique has the potential to reduce the radiation dose further without compromising image quality.

Comparative Study3-T breast diffusion-weighted MRI by echo-planar imaging with spectral spatial excitation or with additional spectral inversion recovery: an in vivo comparison of image quality.
To compare conventional diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with spectral spatial excitation (cDWI) and an enhanced DWI with additional adiabatic spectral inversion recovery (eDWI) for 3-T breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). ⋯ Enhanced DWI provided superior image quality and higher CNR and SNR on a lesion basis. Enhanced DWI can replace cDWI for 3-T breast DWI.
