Dynamic contrast-enhanced derived cerebral blood volume correlates better with leak correction than with no correction for vascular endothelial growth factor, microvascular density, and grading of astrocytoma.
To look for the impact of leak correction on correlation of perfusion indices with microvessel density (MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in astrocytomas. ⋯ Corrected rCBV better correlates with grade and is more accurate in discriminating low-grade from high-grade astrocytoma compared with uncorrected rCBV.

Comparative StudyLiver lesion detection and characterization in patients with colorectal cancer: a comparison of low radiation dose non-enhanced PET/CT, contrast-enhanced PET/CT, and liver MRI.
To compare low-radiation dose non-enhanced fluorine 18 fluorodeoxyglucose (F-18 FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) (NE-PET/CT), contrast-enhanced fluorine 18 fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT (CE-PET/CT), and gadolinium-enhanced liver magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the detection and characterization of liver lesions in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). ⋯ When performing PET/CT, optimal detection and characterization of liver lesions require the use of a fused contrast-enhanced CT. Magnetic resonance imaging and CE-PET/CT have similar lesion detection rates. Magnetic resonance imaging is the best test for liver lesion characterization in patients with CRC.

Detection and evaluation of pelvic lymph nodes in patients with gynecologic malignancies using body diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging.
In this study, the potential in detecting and evaluating pelvic lymph node metastases on body diffusion-weighted (DW) images was evaluated in patients with gynecologic malignancies. ⋯ Body DW images are useful in detection of pelvic lymph nodes in patients with gynecologic malignancy. However, the measurement of ADC values does not contribute to a diagnosis of metastatic nodes.

Localization and quantification of regional and segmental air trapping in asthma.
To assess the feasibility of volumetric and densitometric software to localize and quantify signs of regional air trapping after methacholine bronchoprovocations in asthma. ⋯ This study suggests that multidetector computed tomography scans are able to localize and quantify regional air trapping in asthma after methacholine bronchoprovocations. Volumetric measurements of the lobes as compared to densitometric measurements are superior in detecting local air trapping in gravity-dependent areas of the lung.

Receiver operating characteristic analysis of the diagnostic performance of a computed tomographic examination and the Alvarado score for diagnosing acute appendicitis: emphasis on age and sex of the patients.
To compare the diagnostic performance of computed tomography (CT) and the Alvarado score and to determine whether patient age and sex influence the use of CT and the Alvarado score for diagnosing acute appendicitis. ⋯ Clinical assessment using the Alvarado score should be supplemented with CT examination for accurate diagnosis of acute appendicitis in all patients who are suspected of acute appendicitis.
