Cerclage technology is regaining interest due to the increasing number of periprosthetic fractures. Different wiring techniques have been formerly proposed and have hibernated over years. Hereby, they are compared to current cerclage technology. ⋯ Double looped cerclages provided a better fixation stability compared to a single looped cerclage. Double looped wires were comparable to a single looped cable. The use of braided wires could not be recommended mechanically.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy, especially the pain reduction, of vertebroplasty and balloon kyphoplasty in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). ⋯ Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty are effective procedures for the reduction of pain in OVCFs, and they have the same efficient effect on pain reduction. Correction of vertebral height and local kyphosis may have minimal effect on pain reduction.

We present a new technique of arthroscopic-assisted AC-hook plate fixation for acromioclavicular joint dislocation with all the advantages of minimally invasive surgery and the possibility to treat concomitant pathologies. ⋯ In conclusion, arthroscopic-assisted reconstruction of acromioclavicular joint separation is feasible and may provide patients with all the benefits of AC-hook fixation with decreased risks related to open surgery. The described technique is recommended for all surgeons familiar with arthroscopic surgery.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is one of the most successful operations that can restore function and relieve pain. Although a majority of the patients achieve significant pain relief after THA, there are a number of patients that develop chronic pain for unknown reasons. A literature search was performed looking for chronic pain after total hip arthroplasty and stable THA. ⋯ Essential for successful treatment is the ability to make the correct diagnosis. Thus therapy may be either non-operative or operative. In addition, diagnosis and management often may require multidisciplinary approaches to successfully alleviate chronic pain in these patients with a stable prosthesis.

The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of anterior C3 corpectomy and fusion with screw-plate fixation of C2-4 for the treatment of Hangman's fracture in which spinal cord compression comes from the posterosuperior part of C3 vertebral body and the intervertebral disc injury at the C2-3 level. ⋯ Anterior C3 corpectomy and fusion may prove to be safe and applicable for the treatment of complex Hangman's fractures.
