There is no agreement on frequency of distractions of magnetically controlled growing rods (MCGRs) but more frequent and smaller amounts of distractions mimic physiological spine growth. The mid- to long-term follow-up and management at skeletal maturity is unknown. ⋯ This study provides an outlook of the end of MCGR treatment. Although this is a fusionless procedure, instrumented segments do experience stiffness limiting further correction and length gain during final surgery whether fusion or rod removal is performed.

Management of chronic cluster headache (CCH) remains a challenging endeavor, and the optimal surgical approach for medically refractory CCH remains controversial. ⋯ VN is an effective treatment method for CCH patients. Precise Vidian nerve identification and maximal preservation of the sphenopalatine ganglion may achieve good surgical outcomes and dramatically improve quality of life among patients, without significant adverse events.

Confusion exists among neurosurgeons when choosing and implementing an appropriate study design and statistical methods when conducting research. We noticed particular difficulty with mislabeled and inappropriate case-control studies in the neurosurgical literature. ⋯ Mislabeling and use of inappropriate study design are common in the neurosurgical literature. Manuscripts should be evaluated rigorously by reviewers and readers, and neurosurgical training programs should include instruction on choice of appropriate study design and critical appraisal of the literature.

Surgery remains an integral part of the treatment of medulloblastoma. We present our experience with repeat surgery for this tumor before initiation of adjuvant therapy. ⋯ Meticulous inspection of the resection cavity is necessary, paying particular attention to the roof and lateral recess. Hemostatic agents can conceal residual tumor.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant brain tumor in adult patients. Tumor recurrence commonly occurs around the resection cavity, especially after subtotal resection (STR). Consequently, the extent of resection correlates with overall survival (OS), suggesting that depletion of postoperative tumor remnants will improve outcome. ⋯ Early postoperative SRS to areas of residual tumor could bridge the therapeutic gap between surgery and adjuvant therapies.
