This study was conducted to investigate the success rate of using the facial motor evoked potential (FMEP) of orbicularis oculi and oris muscles for facial nerve function monitoring with use of a stepwise protocol, and its usefulness in predicting facial nerve outcome during cerebellopontine angle (CPA) surgeries. ⋯ FMEPs can be obtained reliably by using TES with 3 to 5 train pulses. Stable intraoperative FMEPs can predict a good postoperative outcome of facial function. However, further refinements of this technique are necessary to minimize artifacts and to make this method more reliable.

The endoscopic endonasal transclival approach is a valid alternative for treatment of lesions in the clivus. The major limitation of this approach is a significant lateral extension of the tumor. We aim to identify a safe corridor through the occipital condyle to provide more lateral exposure of the foramen magnum. ⋯ The transcondylar and transjugular tubercle "far medial" expansions of the endoscopic endonasal approach to the inferior third of the clivus provide a unique surgical corridor to the ventrolateral surface of the ponto- and cervicomedullary junctions.

Endoscopic cauterization of a symptomatic choroid plexus cyst at the foramen of Monro: case report.
Choroid plexus cysts are common in the developing fetus, and although often persisting into adulthood, they rarely represent the underlying cause of symptomatic unilateral ventriculomegaly. The case presented here highlights both the diagnostic obscurity and endoscopic management of a choroid plexus cyst in a symptomatic patient. ⋯ Choroid plexus cysts remain a diagnostic challenge; their presence should be sought out in the face of ventricular asymmetry and symptomatic hydrocephalus. Endoscopic ablation offers a minimally invasive treatment for the management of these lesions.
